Saeid Shirzad Transferred to Political Prisoners’ Ward

HRANA News Agency – Saeid Shirzad, civil rights activist of Rajaei Shahr prison has been transferred to political prisoners’ ward of this prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), this civil rights activist has been transferred to hall number 12 which is dedicated to political prisoners and known as political prisoners’ ward, after repeated requests on July 12.

Saeid Shirzad who is in his 14th months of detention, last time had left the court session in May, in protest to not having prior notice, absence of his lawyer in the session, and also not giving access to his lawyer to review the case, despite many requests.

This civil rights activist previously refused to attend the court sessions two times, in protest to these issues and also obligatory handcuff and shackles, but his lawyer is still deprived of having access to review the case.

Saeid Shirzad was arrested on June 2, 2014, in his work place, the refinery of Tabriz, and was first transferred to Evin prison, but after his protests about the prisoner’s rights, he was exiled to Rajaei Shahr prison, without any trial or court hearing.

Helping the children of political prisoners on their educational path is a part of his allegations. He was first arrested on August 21, 2012, when he went to Ahar to help people after the earthquake of East Azerbaijan, and was released on the bail after 19 days.
