HRANA – Rajab Ali Dashab’s 5 year prison sentence was affirmed by Branch 54 of the Revolutionary Appellate Court, presided by judge Movahed.
According to reports received by HRANA, Mr. Dashab, who is a Shahid Beheshti University student, was convicted of “gathering and misconduct with the intent to comitt crimes against national security” and “propaganda against the regime” by the lower court and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
Rajab Ali Dashab is one of the organizers of street protests on December 27, 2009, the day of Ashura. A video clip in which it appears that Mr. Dashab is throwing a piece of wood in a street fire on Ashura has been aired on state run television multiple times.
Rajab Ali Dashab has been in Ward 350 of Evin prison since early April. He is a distinguished graduate from Tabriz University where he studied western philosophy and is currently continuing his graduate studies at Shahid Beheshti University.
