Sohail Arabi Was Tried In Tehran

HRANA News Agency – The trial session of Sohail Arabi, the death row prisoner whose sentence was stopped, was held last Sunday in branch number 81 of criminal court of Tehran province.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the court session of Sohail Arabi was held in branch number 81 of criminal court of Tehran province, with the presence of his lawyer, on Sunday September 6.
Vahid Moshkani with publicizing this news told HRANA’s reporter, “Currently we are waiting for the issuance of the sentence by branch number 81 of criminal court”.
Sohail Arabi is a death row prisoner whose sentence was declined by branch number 34 of the Supreme Court, in June.
Previously, following the false allegations that was spread by three websites of Fars News, Jahan News and Dana, his family and lawyer complained and sued them. After a copy of the court document was published, it became clear that Mr. Arabi has been charged with sacrilege and insulting the prophet, and these websites published lies.
Sohail Arabi is charged with insulting the prophet, because of the context that he shared on his Facebook page. But, the efforts of his lawyer for retrial and sending the case to the Supreme Court was effective and by denial of the sentence by branch number 34 of the Supreme Court, he was saved from execution.
His sentence was issued while based on law, whenever the defendant claim that his/her statement was by reluctance, negligence, mistake, anger, drunkenness, lack of attention to the meaning of the words or quoting from others, it cannot be considered as insulting the prophet.
This prisoner is currently kept in ward number 350 of Evin prison and is waiting for the final verdict of the court.
