HRANA News Agency – Sohail Babadi, prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison has started a hunger strike in protest to his transfer as punishment and not having his medicine and personal accessories.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Sohail Babadi started his hunger strike in protest to his transfer as a punishment to hall number 7 of section 3 in Rajaei Shahr prison and not having his personal accessories and medicine.
A close source to Sohail Babadi told HRANA’s reporter, “Sohail was kept with normal prisoners and has been transferred to hall number 7 of hall 3, without any spare dress or personal accessories. He is ill and has kidney problems, but they did not let him take his medicine with him”.
This source added, “Following a fabricated fight, he was transferred without any evidence and reason. Vice president of prison ordered this transfer and their only evidence is a testimony of a criminal inmate to Quran”.
He also said, “He has asked Mr. Mardani about this decision but did not get any answer. It is obvious that the struggle was fabricated. They told that Sohail had a cell phone while he did not contact his family with mobile phone. Why do they lie about him when they know that the hall has public phones and Sohail does not have a cell phone?”
This source emphasized that, “Sohail announced a hunger strike despite his illness. Harassing the prisoners is normal there and it is very sad that Sohail has nothing of his accessories there. His only way is hunger strike. The appeal court has not issued any sentence yet”.
HRANA had reported previously that the last session of the appeal court of Sohail Babadi was held after 4 years by judge Poorarab on April 12.
Sohail Babadi, prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison who is suffering from kidney infection and kidney stone, has been deprived of receiving medical treatment outside of prison and medical furlough, due to being in an undecided condition by the court.
Babadi was arrested for writing satiric articles in “Campaign to remind Shiites of Imam Naghi” on May 21, 2012. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charge of sacrilege and recently sentenced to another 7 years in prison, on charge of collusion against the national security and insulting the supreme leader.
