HRANA – Ehsan Shams-Beigi, a resident of Shiraz who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, remains detained in legal limbo at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, more than seven months after his arrest.

According to HRANA, Ehsan Shams Beigi remains in detention without resolution of his legal status.

According to information received by HRANA, Mr. Shams Beigi has been held in legal limbo at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz for more than seven months. An indictment in his case on charges including “moharebeh (enmity against God),” “propaganda against the regime,” and “assembly and collusion against national security” had previously been referred to Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Sadati. However, after reviewing the case, the court rejected the aforementioned charges and returned his case to Branch 8 of the Shiraz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation, under the supervision of investigator Mehrdad Molaei.

A source familiar with his situation, whose identity has been withheld by HRANA, said: “During his detention, Ehsan has been subjected to pressure and threats by Ministry of Intelligence agents on several occasions in an effort to extract forced confessions.”

According to the source, despite repeated inquiries by Mr. Shams-Beigi’s family and lawyers with judicial authorities, they have yet to receive a clear response regarding the current status of his case or the proceedings concerning the charges against him.

He was arrested on January 11, 2026, during the nationwide protests, in the Darvazeh Saadi neighborhood of Shiraz. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Shiraz and was eventually transferred to Adelabad Prison in the city.
