Based on the verdict issued by Branch 1 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Gholamreza Akbari Moghadam, and verbally communicated to Bagherinia today, he has been convicted of:
- Six years in prison for “forming and leading a group with the intent to disrupt national security,”
- 15 months in prison for “insulting the Supreme Leader,”
- Three years and six months in prison for “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security.”
In total, he has been sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison, including time already served in detention. Five years of this sentence have been suspended for a period of five years.
Additionally, as part of his supplementary punishments, Bagherinia has been sentenced to a two-year ban on teaching at universities, higher education institutions, schools, and educational centers—whether public, private, for-profit, or non-profit—as well as a two-year travel ban.
The court session for reviewing his charges was held on January 20, 2025, in the aforementioned branch.
It is worth noting that another part of his case—which involves charges of “spreading falsehoods” and “inciting armed forces personnel or those serving in the military to mutiny, desertion, surrender, or disobey military orders”—is still under review in Branch 1 of the Mashhad Criminal Court.
Bagherinia was arrested on June 3, 2024, after appearing at Branch 216 of the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office. He was later released on bail from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
