HRANA – Hossein Nazari, a 25-year-old citizen arrested during the January 2026 protests and currently held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, has been sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court.

According to information received by HRANA, Branch 1 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court sentenced Nazari to death on charges of “collaboration with hostile states and groups” and “assembly and collusion to commit a crime against national security.” The sentence was issued in July 2026.

Hossein Nazari, aged approximately 25, was arrested by security forces in January 2026. Following interrogation and judicial proceedings, he was transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, where he remains in custody.

The protests and strikes by shopkeepers and bazaar merchants began in Tehran on Sunday, December 28, 2025, and within two days spread beyond markets and commercial centers.
