Death Sentence of Ehsan Faridi Upheld by Supreme Court

HRANA – The Supreme Court of Iran has upheld the death sentence of Ehsan Faridi, a political defendant and student at Tabriz Technical University.

According to information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Faridi’s death sentence, previously issued by Branch 3 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Hassan Fathpour, was confirmed by the Supreme Court. He had been convicted on the charge of “corruption on earth” (efsad fel-arz).

Three of Mr. Faridi’s trial sessions were held via video conference last year at the Tabriz Revolutionary Court.

In September 2025, a separate hearing related to another part of his case was held at Branch 2 of the Tabriz Criminal Court, where he was subsequently sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Mr. Faridi was arrested on June 18, 2024, after appearing at the Tabriz Prosecutor’s Office, and was transferred to Tabriz Prison.

Ehsan Faridi, 22, a student of Manufacturing Engineering at Tabriz Technical University, had previously been arrested on March 8, 2024, and transferred to Tabriz Prison. He was released ten days later, on March 18, after posting bail.

Update on Student Ehsan Faridi’s Status in Tabriz Prison

Ehsan Faridi, a student at Tabriz Technical and Vocational College, remains in limbo in Tabriz Prison nearly six months after his arrest.

A source close to his family confirmed to HRANA: “Mr. Faridi has been held in limbo for about six months in Tabriz Prison. On Wednesday, December 11, his second court session was held at the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz via video conference, during which he defended himself against the charges.”

The first court session for Mr. Faridi was held on August 3, also via video conference. Additionally, in September, a separate hearing for another part of his case was held at the Tabriz Criminal Court Branch 2.

Ehsan Faridi was arrested on June 18, 2024, after reporting to the Tabriz Prosecutor’s Office and was transferred to Tabriz Prison.

Faridi, a 21-year-old engineering student specializing in manufacturing and production, had previously been arrested on March 8, transferred to Tabriz Prison, and later released on bail after ten days.

A Report on the Latest Status of Student Ehsan Faridi in Tabriz Prison

Ehsan Faridi, a student at Tabriz Technical College, remains in an uncertain situation in Tabriz Prison more than seventy days after his arrest. A court session addressing part of his case was held today, Wednesday, in the Criminal Court Two of Tabriz.

A source close to Faridi’s family confirmed to HRANA, saying:, “on Wednesday, August 28, a court session for another part of Mr. Faridi’s case was held in the Criminal Court Two of Tabriz. Additionally, a court session for another part of his case was held on August 3rd in the Tabriz Revolutionary Court via video conference. Faridi has been held in an uncertain state in Tabriz Prison for 72 days, and so far, temporary release on bail has not been granted.”

This citizen was arrested on June 18th after appearing at the Tabriz Prosecutor’s Office and was transferred to the city’s prison.

At the time of this report, the charges against Mr. Faridi have not been disclosed.

Student Ehsan Faridi Arrested and Jailed in Tabriz Prison

Ehsan Faridi, a student at Tabriz University, was arrested and transferred to Tabriz prison on Tuesday, June 18th, after being summoned to the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in this city.

Based on reports received by HRANA, after appearing at this judicial institution, Faridi was arrested and transferred to the city’s prison. As of now, the charges against him remain unknown.

Ehsan Faridi is a 21-year-old student of Manufacturing Engineering at Tabriz Technical College. He was previously arrested on March 9th, 2023, and transferred to Tabriz prison. He was eventually released on bail on March 19th of the same year.

Student Ehsan Faridi Arrested in Tabriz

On March 8, 2024, security forces apprehended Ehsan Faridi, a student pursuing Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Tabriz, in Tabriz. He was transferred to an undisclosed location.

The reasons for Faridi’s arrest, his whereabouts, and the charges against him remain unknown.

The lack of transparency surrounding Faridi’s arrest is emblematic of a broader issue within the Iranian regime’s security apparatus. Arbitrary arrests, often conducted without clear justification or due process, continue to be a source of concern for human rights advocates.
