Teacher Union Activist Jafar Ebrahimi Sentenced to Five Years

On November 27, the Tehran Court of Appeals upheld a five-year sentence against teacher union activist Jafar Ebrahimi.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, teacher union activist Jafar Ebrahimi was sentenced to five years in prison.

In late October 2022, the Tehran Revolutionary court sentenced him to four years on the charge of “assembly and collusion” and one year on “propaganda against the regime.” He was also banned from leaving the country and from membership in political and civil groups for two years.

Based on article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, four years for the first charge will be enforceable to him.

Last week, Ebrahimi was hospitalized due to poor health conditions.

Ebrahimi is a teacher and Tehran Iranian Teachers’ Trade Association member. In February of this year, he was sentenced to four years and six months in another legal case.
