Tensions Grew in the Sunni Prisoners’ Ward in Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – After insulting the sanctities of Sunni prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj by the authorities and the prisoners’ protests, the atmosphere in the prison was tense and prison guards were positioned at the entrance of Hall 21 to control the situation. Protesting prisoners demanded recognition and apology for the insult.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), an anonymous person insulted the sanctities of Sunni prisoners in Hall Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj Hall 21 of ward 7, and the prisoners protested and demanded identification of the person.
A close source to these prisoners in the description of the incident in an interview with reporter of HRANA, said: “This morning an unknown person in ward 7 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, through the window of the middle Hall, where the ward officer’s room is, loudly insulted Sunni people’s opinion by insulting the Second Caliph disrespectfully.”
The source added: “This action caused discomfort, assembly and protest by the Sunni prisoners in Hall 21 of ward 7. They were calling for the identification of that person and his apology.”
He stated that following protests by the prisoners, the prison was in an alert situation: “Prison guards were stationed in front of the entrance of the ward and head of the prison, without the insulting person being detected to apologize. They urged the protesters to disperse from the front of the entrance door. The officer threatened to resort to force, otherwise.”
The source said: “After Mr. Najmi, head of the ward of Revolutionary Guards, came and promised that he would follow the problem, the prisoners ended their protest.”
