4 Turkmen citizens are sentenced to prison

HRANA News Agency – The first branch of Gonbad Kavous Revolutionary court has sentenced 4 Sunnis from Turkmen minority to 69 months in prison, 3 million and 72 thousand Rials of surcharge and 2 lashes.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Daniel Babayani the son of Behnam, Habibollah Beygzadeh the son of Beyg Taghan, Nematollah Kami the son of Azim and Abdolnaser Khormali the son of Ibrahim had been arrested last September by the intelligence office of Golestan province.

They had been released on the bail on January after being kept in solitary confinement for a long time.

The first branch of Gonbad Kavous Revolutionary Court has sentenced them on charges of insulting Khamenei, having satellite receiver, insulting Shiite Imams and propaganda against the regime to 69 months in prison, 3 million and 72 thousand Rials of surcharge and 2 lashes.

 

One of their relatives told to HRANA’s reporter: “They had been tortured to give their Facebook account passwords to intelligence officers.”

“Their family photos and photos of hadj ceremony have been considered as obscene photos during the trial.”

There have been 5 others including a woman arrested because of the same case however HRANA’s efforts to find their identities have not been successful yet.

The intelligence officers have asked these people to change their religion to Shiite in order not to be imprisoned.

They have been acquitted from the charge “insulting Shiite Imams” but were sentenced on charges of Insulting Khamenei, having obscene pictures and propaganda against the regime.
