5 Civil Rights Activists Went to Ardebil Prison

HRANA News Agency – Five civil rights activists named Rahim Gholami, Ali Vaseghi, Ali Kheyrjoo, Morteza Parvin, Mehrdad Shahbazi and Behruz Shahbazi were sent to Ardebil prison for serving their three-months-imprisonment and thirty lashes sentences.
According to the report of the Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), each of these activists had been sentenced to three months in prison and thirty lashes in November 2015 on charges of “disturbing the public order and welfare by ethnic and nationalist slogans in the football stadium”.
The second branch of Appeals Court of Ardabil Province sentenced each of the activists to 3 months imprisonment and 30 lashes because of displaying a placard titled “Abbas Lisani and political prisoners should be freed” in a football match between Shahrdari Ardabil and Hormozgan Aluminium and for this reason the verdict issued by branch 103 of the Criminal Court for 2 of the activists was upheld.
It should be noted that three of the activists named Ali Golan, Tohid Amir Amini and Saleh Pichganlu with Mr. Saeed Sadeghi and Mohsen Mohsenzadeh have also been sentenced to three months suspended imprisonment due to objections to the TV program Fitileh.
