5 Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Different Prisons

HRANA News Agency – The hunger strike of 5 political prisoners, namely Ehsan Mazandarani, Jafar Aimzadeh, Mohammad Abdullahi, Shahram Poormansouri and Ayoub Asadzadeh still goes on. The physical condition of some of them, including Ehsan Mazandarani, Rasoul Razavi and Jafar Azimzadeh, is reported to be critical.
According to the report of Human Rights Activist News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Ehsan Mazandarani, Jafar Aimzadeh, Mohammad Abdullahi, Shahram Poormansouri and Ayoub Asadzadeh are still on hunger strike in Evin, Rajai Shahr, Uremia, Tabriz and Kashmar prisons, in protest to their situations. The general condition of some of them is reported to be critical.
Jafar Azimzadeh imprisoned labor activist is on forty height day of his hunger strike, in protest to “repression of workers’ and teachers’ activities by fabricating security charges”. The imprisoned labor activist has been transferred to hospital, at least three times due to deterioration of his condition. Mr. Azimzadeh was transferred to Shohada hospital due to deterioration of his condition and kidney failure, but returned to prison after 4 hours, because of unavailability of specialist physician.
Jafar Azimzadeh, secretary of the board of the Free Trade Union of Workers in Iran was sentenced to six years imprisonment and two years deprivation of ‘activities in cyberspace and the media and the press’ by the Revolutionary Court in 2015. He is held in ward 8 of Evin prison.
Ehsan Mazandarani, imprisoned journalist, after 20 days of wet hunger strike has changed his hunger strike to dry since Sunday June 6, in protest to being insulted and being beaten in the hospital
On June 15, he faced severe drop of blood pressure on the 30th day of hunger strike and fell from his bed and passed out. According to reports by Farhikhtegan newspaper, he was transferred to prison clinic but there is no information about his condition by the time this report is being edited.
Shahram Poormansouri, security prisoner of Rajaei Shahr, who had been arrested when he was 17 years old, and has served 16 years so far, is on hunger strike due to his condition. There is no information about the accurate starting date of the strike, but it is confirmed that he is since at least 9 days on strike.
Kilometers away from the capital, Mohammad Abdollahi, death row political prisoner in Central Prison of Uremia, who was warned about the execution of his sentence was, is on an unlimited hunger strike to protest agianst the “unjust” verdict and the way his case was handled since May 29, 2016.
Ayoub Asadi, ill political prisoner in exile in Kashmar prison, is also on the 15th day of hunger strike in protest to medical negligence, rejection of medical furlough and injustice sentence of 20 years in prison.
Need to be mentioned, Mohammad Sadigh Kaboodvand, Rasoul Razavi, Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, Ayat Mehrali Baigloo and Maryam Naghash Zargaran, ended their strikes by reaching their demands.
