Abdolfattah Soltani Transferred to the Clinic of Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Abdolfattah Soltani, imprisoned lawyer was transferred to the prison clinic by the emergency by tingling and severe heart pounding on May 3, 2016.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Abdolfattah Soltani was transferred to the prison clinic by the emergency by tingling and severe heart pounding on May 3, 2016. His general condition after the transfer is unknown.
Maedeh Soltani also told about his father’s health: “My father had a fluctuating blood pressure, and faced digestive problems in the prison. Because of the poor sanitary conditions and little space and the lack of light and air, even young prisoners will face serious health problems, whereas he is 60 years old.”
Abdolfattah Soltani was arrested in the aftermath of the protests after the elections, on June 16, 2009 and was sent to ward number 209 of Evin prison. The basis of the charges against him was participating in the establishment of “Human Rights Defenders”, receiving a human rights award in Nuremberg, Germany and he was charged with propaganda against the regime and interviews with the media about the status of his clients.
He was charged with spying by judge Mortazavi – through disclosure of his clients who were charged with espionage – as well as propaganda against the state and spent more than 7 months in prison. Mr. Soltani was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and 5 years deprivation of social services in the primary court. But He was acquitted of all charges in the Court of Appeal after 219 days in prison and his efforts to prosecute judicial authorities did not lead to a result.
The founding member of the Human Rights Defenders was arrested again on September 10, 2011 and since then had been held in Evin prison. During these years that Mr. Soltani has spent in prison, often because of heart disease and blood pressure he was sent to the clinic of prison. He was hospitalized for 41 days and before a full recovery was returned to the prison.
The imprisoned lawyer had been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment and exile to Borazjan prison, and 20 years being banned from practicing law, in March 2011, at Tehran Islamic Revolutionary Court, Branch 26, presided by Judge Pirabbasi. His sentence was reduced to 13 years on the appeal stage. This sentence was reduced to 10 years by applying Article 134.
Abdolfattah Soltani was sent from Evin prison to furlough on January 17, 2016 after more than 4 years and following the opposition to judicial authorities with extending the leave, the imprisoned human rights activist returned to prison on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
