Ali Matrodi Arrested and Imprisoned in Ahwaz

HRANA News Agency – Ali Matrodi, Arab poet was arrested and transferred to Shiban prison in Ahwaz after referring to the Revolutionary Court of Falahieh (Shadegan) to serve his sentence of one year imprisonment.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), at 11 am on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, Ali Matrodi, 40, son of Hashem, married and father of 3 children, from Shadegan of Ahwaz, was transferred to Shiban prison to serve the sentence of one year imprisonment after being summoned by the Revolutionary Court of Shadegan.
Ali Matrodi along with several poets and cultural activists caused the dissatisfaction of some security officials by writing “poetry” and “Arabic Stomp” at commemoration of the Arab poet “Mullah Fazel Skrany” in the presence of government officials in 2014.
The poet was arrested on charges of “Acting against national security” and “propaganda against the system” by security forces after returning to his home and then was released on the bail after 20 days being held at Ministry of Intelligence.
Mr. Matrodi went to Yazd after being released to avoid of pressure by the Ministry of Intelligence and he lived in this city in the recent time.
Last week his family received a warrant from the prosecutor which threatened him to record the bail and confiscate his house in his absence. He was arrested and transferred to Shiban (vocational training centers in Ahwaz) prison after referring to the Revolutionary Court of Falahieh (Shadegan) on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
It is worth noting that he was not present at any of the proceedings and his verdict has been issued in absentia.
