HRANA News Agency – National-Civic Azerbaijani activists, who had been arrested in Sabalan’s hillside and were transferred to Central prison in Meshkin Shahr, went on hunger strike.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on 14th August, a number of National-Civic activists from Ardabil province had planned to climb Sabalan peak in accordance with their every year trend, but security guards prevented most of them of climbing by blocking Sabalan Sanctuary’s rout.
Also a number of activists, who had managed to get themselves into mountain shelter in Sabalan peak, were arrested by security and intelligence forces.
According to latest reports, National-Civic activists who were arrested in Sabalan hillside on 16th August afternoon were transferred separately to Meshkin Shahr Central Prison wards.
Detainees named Rahim Gholami, Aydin Zakeri, Maysam Jolani, Jafar Rostami, Saeed Hosseini, Hamid Ghovati, Hamid Negahban, Eisa Azizi, Hassan Jolani and Reza Ghomi on 17th August went on hunger strike to protest against their illegal arrest and detention, as well as illegally issuing a bail of 10 million Toman for their temporary release.
In this regard, an informed source told a HRANA reporter “Court of Meshkin Shahr has told them that their charge is spreading propaganda against the Regime.
He further stated that “the detainees say that they are not willing to set the bail.”
