Azerbaijani Turk activist Hadi Navazi Sentence to Nine Months

The Revolutionary Court sentenced jailed Azerbaijani Turk activist Hadi Navazi to nine months in prison. In mid-September 2022, security forces arrested and jailed him at the Great Tehran Penitentiary.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Azerbaijani Turk activist Hadi Navazi was sentenced to nine months in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the regime” and “spreading falsehood on the Internet.”

Navazi is currently jailed in the Great Tehran Penitentiary. He was arrested allegedly for “publishing calls for protests.”

 

 

Iranian Comedian Zeinab Mousavi Sentenced to Two Years

Iranian comedian and parody artist Zeinab Mousavi was sentenced to two years in prison. In October 2022, security forces arrested her in the city of Qom and later released her on bail.

On her page on social media, Zeinab Mousavi wrote that she was in solitary confinement for 25 days during detention.

Mousavi is known for her parody character Empress of Kuzcoo.
The charges brought against Mousavi are still unknown.

Iran Protests: Four Individuals Arrested in Kurdistan Province

IRGC intelligence arrested four people accused of killing a police officer and took them to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting IRNA, four individuals were arrested in Kurdistan Province.

These individuals, reportedly, have been accused of killing the police officer colonel Hossein Yousefi. The report did not reveal the detainees’ identities.

These individuals’ whereabouts are still unknown.

Four Teacher Union Activists Sentenced to Imprisonment

The Sanandaj Revolutionary Court sentenced four teacher union activists of Divandarreh, Omid Shah-Mohammadi, Parviz Ahsani, Kaveh Mohammadzadeh and Hiva Ghoreishi to imprisonment.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting the Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court sentenced Omid Shah-Mohammadi to five years in prison on the charge of “acting against national security.” Parviz Ahsani, Kaveh Mohammadzadeh and Hiva Ghoreishi were also given five-year suspended sentences for the same charge.

On August 28, 2022, these teachers were released on a 1.5 billion tomans bail until the end of legal proceedings.

Their pre-trial detentions were extended three times.

Omid Shah-Mohammadi faced other arrests and convictions on a prior occasion for his civil activities.

 

Yarsan Civil Activist Seyyed-Karam Abbasi Arrested

On December 1, 2022, security forces violently arrested Yarsan civil activist Seyyed-Karam Abbasi and took him to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Yarsan civil activist Seyyed-Karam Abbasi was beaten and arrested by security forces.

One day before his arrest, his two brothers, Syeed-Amin and Seyyed-Soroush Abbasi and five other Yarsan followers were also arrested by the road police on the way to Bisotun, Kermanshah Province.

According to an informed source, all three brothers were beaten during the arrest; their houses were searched and damaged.

The reason for these arrests and their whereabouts are still unknown.

Yarsanism, Ahl-e Haqq is a syncretic religion founded by Sultan Sahak in the late 14th century in western Iran. As a religious minority, Yarsan followers are subjected to intimidation and prosecution by regime security and judicial systems.

At least Five Animal Rights Activists Arrested

Mehdi Fadaei, Hadi Behbahani, Mojtaba Rasouli, Mohammad Azizi and Milad Shaterani are among the animal rights activists arrested during the recent nationwide protests.

These Animal rights activists were arrested earlier on 26th October, for unknown reasons in relation to the current nationwide protests.

At the time of writing, there is no information on the charges and place of detention of these individuals.

Citizen Killed in Direct Shooting by Military Forces

On November 28, 2022, in Shadegan, Khuzestan Province, military forces shot a citizen dead on suspicion of fuel smuggling.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, a citizen identified by HRANA as Musa Janami, age 28, was shot dead by military forces in Shadegan County.

An informed source told HRANA that Janami was carrying empty diesel fuel barrels with a truck, and then military forces opened fire at the vehicle, causing his death.

According to this source, security forces have pressured Janami’s family not to publicize this incident.

 

Baha’i Individual Homayoun Khanlari Arrested in Rasht

On November 29, 2022, security forces arrested Baha’i citizen Homayoun Khanlari in Rasht, Gilan Province and took him to an undisclosed location. The agents searched his office and then his house and confiscated some of his belongings.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on November 29, 2022, Baha’i Homayoun Khanlari was arrested at his house in Rasht, Gilan Province.

According to an informed source, his family’s frequent inquiries from judicial-security institutions about him have remained unanswered.

The reason for Khanlari’s arrest and his whereabouts are still unknown.

 

Two Inmates Executed in Bandar Abbas and Ilam Prisons

On November 30, 2022, Bandar Abbas Prison officials executed an inmate convicted of drug-related crimes.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Haal Vsh, on November 30, 2022, an inmate identified as Parviz Barahooi, a resident of Zahedan, was executed in Bandar Abbas Prison.

In 2017, the Revolutionary Court of Bandar Abbas sentenced Barahooi to death for drug offences.

Also, Kurdpa reported the execution of Mehdi Lotfi in Ilam Prison on November 23, 2022. He was previously convicted of murder.
 
None of the official sources and media outlets inside the country has reported these executions.

Four Individuals Sentenced to Death for Espionage

The Iran Supreme Court confirmed the death sentences against four defendants convicted of espionage. Hossein Ordukanzadeh, Shahin Imani Mahmood-Abad, Milad Ashrafi Atbatan and Manuchehr Shahbandi Bajandi were sentenced to death allegedly for collaboration with Israel and kidnapping. In May 2022, these individuals were arrested by IRGC intelligence and the Ministry of Intelligence.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting ILNA, the Supreme Court of Iran confirmed the death sentences against four individuals accused of espionage for Israel.

In this legal case, three other defendants were sentenced to five to ten years in prison on the charges including “act against national security, aiding and abetting in murder.”
