Behrouz Javid Tehrani’s Time in Solitary Confinement Extended

HRANA- Authorities in Karaj’s Rajae Shahr Prison have extended Behrouz Javid Tehrani’s time in solitary confinement at the request of the Ministry of Intelligence. Although he has spent over a month in solitary confinement, authorities have been ordered to keep him confined in solitary until at least after the anniversary of the 1999 student protests.

Political prisoner Behrouz Javid Tehrani is being held in Ward 1 of Karaj’s Rajae Shahr Prison. He was transferred to solitary on May 31, 2010 for unknown reasons. There has been no date of release from solitiary specified for Behrouz Javid Tehrani, who was arrested after the July 1999 Tehran University protests.

He has spent over a month in solitary confinement under poor conditions. Prison authorities have refused to provide him with his medication. He is permitted to use the bathroom once a day and to shower once a week.
