Seven Prisoners Executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on February 19, 2025, Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj carried out the execution of at least seven prisoners. Among them, one was convicted of drug-related offenses, two were sentenced for murder in separate cases, one was charged with moharebeh (enmity against God) through armed robbery, and three others were convicted of rape.

HRANA previously confirmed the identities of some of the executed prisoners: Reza Anzalichi, convicted on drug-related charges; Sasan Mirhadi, sentenced for moharebeh through armed robbery; and Behrouz Mohammadi, convicted of murder.

The identities of the remaining four are still under investigation. Three of them were executed on rape charges, and one was sentenced to death for murder. According to Hamshahri, two of these four executed individuals were Afghan nationals convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in western Tehran, a case dating back to October 2019.

According to data gathered by the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists, Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj witnessed the highest number of executions in 2024. HRANA News Agency – With the identification of two additional prisoners executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, the total number of executions carried out yesterday in this facility has risen to six.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, at dawn on Monday, February 17, six prisoners were executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

In addition to the executions of Ezzat Hosseini Duraki, Ali Eshaghi, Mohammad Shamseddin, and another prisoner whose identity is still under investigation by HRANA, the sentences of Borhan Wasim-Zahi, an Afghan national, and Heydar Babaei were also carried out. Both had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by judicial authorities.

It is worth noting that Duraki, Eshaghi, and Shamseddin had also been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not officially announced these executions.

In 2024, HRA reported 53 executions in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, making it the fourth-highest among prisons in terms of execution numbers.
According to data compiled by HRANA, 52.69% of all executions in Iran in 2024 were related to drug-related charges. Notably, only 6% of the executions were officially announced, highlighting a significant lack of transparency. Prisoner Executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Tuesday, February 18, the execution of a prisoner previously sentenced to death on murder charges was carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the executed prisoner has been identified as Mahdi Iranian.

Based on information received by HRANA, Mr. Iranian had been sentenced to death by a criminal court on murder charges.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not officially announced his execution.

According to HRANA’s data, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz carried out 85 executions in 2024, marking a 73% increase compared to the previous year. HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Monday, February 17, 2025, the execution of three more prisoners in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, brought the total number of executions carried out in the prison today to four.

In addition to the execution of Ezzat Hosseini Duraki, who had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, three other prisoners were also executed. HRANA has confirmed the identities of two of them as Ali Eshaghi and Mohammad Shamseddin. Both had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the judiciary.

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Monday, February 17, 2025, a prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges was executed in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as Ezzat Hosseini Duraki.

Based on information obtained by HRANA, Mr. Hosseini Duraki had been arrested on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary. He had spent more than ten years in prison before his execution.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant institutions have not publicly announced the execution.

Prisoner Executed in Arak Prison

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Sunday, February 16, 2025, a prisoner previously sentenced to death for murder was executed in Arak Prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the executed prisoner has been identified as Hadi Farahani. He was arrested on murder charges and later sentenced to death by a criminal court.

As of the time of this report, prison and judicial authorities have not publicly announced the execution.

In 2024, the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran documented 812 cases related to the right to life, including the sentencing of 214 individuals to death and the execution of 930 individuals. Among these, 4 executions were carried out in public. Of those executed, 818 were male, 26 were female, and 5 were juvenile offenders—individuals under 18 years old at the time of their alleged crimes.

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on Sunday, February 16, 2025, a prisoner previously sentenced to death on non-political charges was executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists in Iran, the identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed as Saeed Jokar. Based on information obtained by HRANA, Jokar had been sentenced to death by judicial authorities on non-political charges.

As of the time of this report, prison and judicial officials have not publicly announced the execution.

After Supreme Court Overturns Verdict, Death Sentence Reissued for Sharifeh Mohammadi

HRANA News Agency – Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor activist imprisoned in Lakan Prison in Rasht, has once again been sentenced to death by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht. Her initial death sentence had previously been overturned by the Supreme Court, and the case was referred to a parallel court for retrial.

Based on the ruling issued by Judge Darvish Goftar of Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, which was delivered to her lawyers today, Mohammadi has been sentenced to death on charges of “armed rebellion (baghi) through membership in an opposition group.”

Mohammadi was sentenced to death on July 4, 2023, on charges of baghi (armed rebellion) due to her alleged membership in an opposition group. This sentence against the female labor activist triggered widespread public outcry.

Her trial, held on June 8, 2023, revolved around multiple charges, including propaganda against the regime, actions against national security, and baghi through her supposed affiliation with the group.

Mohammadi was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence at her home in Rasht on December 5, 2023. Later that month, she was transferred from Lakan Prison to Sanandaj Prison on December 30, only to be sent back to Lakan after some time.

A source close to her family told HRANA: “Sharifeh was a member of the Association of Labor Organizations until 2013, which has no ties to the Komala group. The charge of baghi is based on her alleged membership in this group, which is not true.”

HRANA News Agency – At dawn on February 12, a prisoner previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges was executed in Malayer Prison, Hamadan Province.

HRANA has identified the prisoner as Javad Kakavand, who was hanged this morning.

According to information received by HRANA, Mr. Kakavand had been arrested on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the death sentence of a prisoner convicted on drug-related charges was carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

According to HRANA, citing Haal Vsh, a prisoner was executed in Dastgerd Prison early this morning. The individual has been identified as Mehdi Shahbakhsh Pirsorani, approximately 40 years old resident of Zahedan and father of one child.

According to the report, Shahbakhsh Pirsorani was arrested about six years ago in Naein, Isfahan, on drug-related charges. He was later sentenced to death by the Isfahan Revolutionary Court. On February 8, he was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for the execution and had his final visit with his family yesterday.

As of the time of this report, prison officials and relevant authorities have not publicly announced the execution.
