Security Forces Threaten the Families of Those Killed after the Elections

HRANA News Agency reports that according to Jaras, families of those killed after the disputed presidential elections in Iran who were visiting their gravesite in Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery were harassed and threatened.

Families gathered to commemorate their loved ones were interrogated for several hours and ordered to leave. Family of Amir Arshad Tajmir who was killed last year in Ashura were in Behesht-e Zahra’s part 302 on the anniversary of his birthday. Families of Sohrab Erabi, Ramin Ramezani, and Mostafa Karim-Beigi were among the participants.

Security forces arrested and interrogated Sohrab Erabi’s mother for several hours before releasing her. In recent days, threats on the families of those killed after the elections have been escalated. Security forces have also attempted to attack some of the families’ houses and prevent them from gatherings to honor their loved ones.

 

Director of the Reformist Organization of Qazvin’s International University Detained

HRANA – On Monday, May 31, 2010, the security forces of the city of Qazvin arrested Mr. Farhad Fathi, handcuffed and blindfolded him and took him to an undisclosed location.  Mr. Fathi is a student activist and the director of a reformist student group.

Security Forces Threaten the Families of Those Killed after the Elections

Kamran Asa and Bijan Rezaie will appear before court

HRANA – On  Monday September 5th 2010, Kamran Asa and Bijan Rezaie; the brother and a friend  and relative of Kiyanoosh Asa who  was  killed,  protesting during the  last  June,  will be held On Sunday September 5th in  Branch 8th of  Tehran’s revolutionary court.
According to the HRANA reporters ,  this case is regarding his detention on  December 7th 2009 during which Kamran Asa and  Bijan Rezaie were detained by security forces while entering Elmo Sanat (Science & Industry) university in order to participate in “Student’s Day.”

Before  being released on  bail, Kamran Asa was  held in Evin prison for 2  months.  Once again, close to the anniversary of his  brother’s death,  he was  arrested  in  Kermanshah and  has another pending case there.

Children’s Rights Activist Afshin Hyratian Arrested

HRANA News Agency – Afshin Hyratian, a Baha’i citizen and children’s rights activist, was arrested on Saturday, August 20, 2011.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Afshin Hyratian was detained while he was leaving his house.Following his family’s inquires, it has been reported that Afshin Hyratian is currently locked up in Evin Prison, Ward 350.

Afshin Hyratian was arrested on June 3, 2010 in a park in front of the Iranian Artists’ Forum in Tehran and spent two months in temporary custody.He was then freed on bail.Afshin Hyratian has been sentenced to 4 years in prison, but his case is being reviewed by the Appeals Court.

While he was behind bars in Evin Prison, Ward 209, this Baha’i citizen was severely tortured in order to obtain televised confessions from him.

 

Security Forces Prevent 22nd Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony of 88’ Massacre

HRANA- Security forces prevented a remembrance ceremony on the 22nd anniversary of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners, arresting a number of participants.This morning, families of the political prisoners massacred in 1988 attempted to gather in Khavaran Cemetery to honor their loved ones as they do every year.

According to the weblog of Human Rights and Democracy Activists, in addition to arresting some of the young participants, security forces proceeded to confiscate the personal belongings of those present for the ceremony.

Jahangir Mahmoudi Arrested for Defending Political Prisoners

HRANA- Officials from the Special Clerical Court have stated that Jahangir Mahmoudi was arrested as a result of his intentions to represent a number of political prisoners.

HRANA has learned that on Tuesday morning Jahangir Mahmoudi’s spouse traveled to the 3rd Circuit of the Special Clerical Court in Isfahan where she was informed that her husband was being charged for accepting to defend political prisoners.Mr. Mahmoudi’s spouse reports that her husband is in good spirits after visiting with him.He was transferred yesterday to Isfahan Prison.

No News on the Condition of Jailed Blogger Rojin Mohammadi

HRANA News Agency – Although one week has passed since Rojin Mohammadi was arrested upon arriving in Iran, nothing is known about her current condition.Rojin Mohammadi is a blogger and medical student at the University of Manila (UM) in Philippines.

It has been reported that Rojin Mohammadi is currently being held in solitary confinement in Ward 2A of Evin Prison.This ward is under the control of Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC).Thus far, Rojin Mohammadi has been denied access to an attorney and also phone calls or visits with her family.

Iranian judicial and security officials refuse to disclose to her family where in Evin Prison Rojin Mohammadi is being held.Other reports indicate that the prosecutor at the 3rd branch of Evin Court has charged Rojin Mohammadi with conspiracy against national security and propaganda against the regime by the means of human rights activism.

Nine days ago, on November 14, 2011, Rojin Mohammadi flew from Istanbul to Tehran.Upon arriving at Imam Khomeini Airport, she was arrested by Iranian security agents and taken to Evin Prison.She was then released on bail after being detained for 24 hours.Five days later, on November 19, 2011, security agents raided her father’s house in Kermanshah in order to arrest her again.However, since she was not home at the time of the raid, the police failed to take her into custody.

On November 21, 2011, Rojin Mohammadi was summoned by phone to Shahid Moghadasi Court in Evin Prison, and her personal belongings including a computer were confiscated.She was interrogated for 3 consecutive days and finally arrested again on November 23, 2011 and locked up behind bars in Evin Prison.
