Arsalan Rigi Arrested by Security Forces in Khash

Arsalan Rigi, a resident of Khash in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was arrested by security forces and taken to an unknown location on June 27, as reported by Haal Vsh.

Rigi, 31 years old, a native and resident of Khash, was arrested on a street in Khash by the Ministry of Intelligence’s forces.

So far, no information has been obtained regarding the reasons for his arrest or his place of detention.

According to data collected by the Department of Statistics and Publication of HRA in 2023, Sistan and Baluchestan Province accounted for 5.63% of reported human rights violations, including instances of arbitrary detentions.

Mehdi Majidi Sentenced to Four Years and Eight Months

The prison sentence of Mehdi Majidi, a citizen from Bukan, has been upheld by the Court of Appeals of West Azerbaijan Province, according to Kurdpa. Initially, he had been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court 2 of Bukan.

Based on a ruling issued on Sunday, June 23, 2024, by the Urmia Court of Appeals, Mr. Majidi has been sentenced to three years in prison for “supporting the Israeli government”, one year for “propaganda against the regime,” and eight months for “insulting the Supreme Leader.” According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment for Majidi is enforceable.

Previously, on April 25, the initial sentence had been delivered to him by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court 2 of Bukan.

Mehdi Majidi was arrested by security forces on November 6, 2023, and transferred to one of Urmia’s security detention centers.

After being transferred to Bukan Prison, he was released on bail on December 28, 2023.

 

Student Ehsan Faridi Arrested and Jailed in Tabriz Prison

Ehsan Faridi, a student at Tabriz University, was arrested and transferred to Tabriz prison on Tuesday, June 18th, after being summoned to the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in this city.

Based on reports received by HRANA, after appearing at this judicial institution, Faridi was arrested and transferred to the city’s prison. As of now, the charges against him remain unknown.

Ehsan Faridi is a 21-year-old student of Manufacturing Engineering at Tabriz Technical College. He was previously arrested on March 9th, 2023, and transferred to Tabriz prison. He was eventually released on bail on March 19th of the same year.

Jafar Amini Arrested in Bukan

Jafar (Dara) Amini, a resident of Bukan, West Azerbaijan province, was arrested by security forces on Saturday, June 15, and transferred to an unknown location, as reported by Kurdpa.

The arrest took place at his residence without a judicial warrant. So far, the family’s efforts to learn about Mr. Amini’s well-being and whereabouts have been unsuccessful.

The reasons for his arrest and the charges against him are still unknown.

Media Activist Hossein Razzagh Sentenced to 74 Lashes on Appeal

The lashing sentence for Hossein Razzagh, a media activist, has been upheld by the Tehran Province Court of Appeals. He was initially sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 74 lashes for “absence and failure to report to Amol Prison.”

In April this year, while Razzagh was serving his sentence in Ward 209 of Evin Prison, he was sentenced to 74 lashes by the Tehran Revolutionary Court. A source close to Mr. Razzagh’s family told HRANA that the reason for this sentence was “absence and failure to report to Amol Prison.”

Razzagh was released from Evin Prison on June 10. Emtedad Online, which reported his release, did not provide any details about the manner and conditions of his release.

On August 22, 2022, Razzagh was arrested by security forces in Amol concerning his previous case. In September of 2022, he was charged with a new case against him and was sentenced to four years and three months in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court in April 2023. Additionally, he was charged in June 2023 in another case.

Hossein Razzagh has previously faced arrest and judicial actions for his activities.

Alireza Ebrahimian Arrested by IRGC Intelligence in Shaft County

IRGC intelligence agents arrested Alireza Ebrahimian, a resident of Shaft County in Gilan Province, on June 18 and took him to an unknown location, as reported by Hirkani.

The report states that the arrest took place at Ebrahimian’s residence. So far, no information has been obtained about the reasons for the arrest or the whereabouts of Mr. Ebrahimian.

Farid Badidast Arrested by Security Forces in Divandarreh

Farid Badidast, a resident of Divandarreh located in Kurdistan province, was arrested by security forces on Wednesday, June 12th, and transferred to an unknown location, as reported by Kurdpa.

The report states that on Wednesday, security forces entered the Badidast’s home, arrested him without an arrest warrant, and took him to an undisclosed location.

To date, no information has been obtained regarding the reasons for Mr. Badidast’s arrest or the charges against him.

According to data collected by the Department of Statistics and Publication of HRA in 2023, Kurdistan Province accounted for 8.3% of reported human rights violations, including instances of arbitrary detentions.

Azerbaijani-Turk Activist Detained in Jafarabad

On May 25,  2024, Alireza Asadpour, an Azerbaijani-Turk activist, was detained by security forces in Jafarabad, Ardabil Province, and taken to an undisclosed location.

The reasons for Asadpour’s arrest and his current whereabouts remain unclear. He holds a degree in law.

In 2023, the Department of Statistics and Publications of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) recorded 329 reports, citing the arrest of 324 citizens linked to ethnic and national rights. Notably, 156 of these arrests occurred without the issuance of a judicial warrant.

Five Arrested in Hashtrud for Environmental Protest

In Hashtrud, East Azerbaijan province, five individuals were detained by security forces following a protest against environmental damage.

The detainees, identified by HRANA as Rahmat Saeedi, Jafar Sharifi, Davoud Sharifi, Hadi Sharifi, and Aghil Talebi, are residents of a village in Hashtrud County.
They were protesting the ecological harm caused by local sandwashing workshops. The protest escalated into violence following intervention by police and security agents, leading to multiple arrests. The specific charges against the arrested individuals have not yet been disclosed.
