Four Citizens Arrested By Security Forces in Piranshahr

On February 13, in Piranshahr City, security forces arrested four citizens and transferred them to an unidentified location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, four citizens identified as Rahim Alizadeh, Mohammad Ghaderpour, Rahman Ghaderi and Naser Bayazidi were arrested.

As of yet, their families’ inquiries about the reasons for arrests and the charges have remained unanswered by judicial authorities.

Minor Sukhtbar in Hirman County Killed by Direct Shooting of Border Police

On January 31, a ten year old boy who worked as a cross-border fuel carrier (sukhtbar) was killed from a shot in the head fired by military forces in a border area in Hirmand County.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, border forces killed the child without warning by a direct and unruly shooting.

The identity of this child is still unknown at the time of writing.

According to HRANA’s annual report, in 2021, 242 citizens were targeted by unruly shootings by regime military forces, of which 94 were killed. This includes 23 kolbars (cross border carriers) and 31 sukhtbars (cross-border fuel porters). 148 people have been injured, including 81 kolbars and 51 sukhtbars.

Workers’ Right Activist, Khabat Shakiba Arrested in Sanandaj City

On January 29, workers’ rights activist, Khabat Shakiba, a resident of Sanandaj, was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence and transferred to an unidentified location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, on Saturday, January 9, intelligence agents arrested Shakiba in Sanandaj and transferred him to an unidentified location.

According to an informed source, “1 pm on Saturday, security forces arrested Mr. Shakiba while he was going to a cemetery to a relative’s burial place.”

Shakiba’s family’s inquiry to whereabouts has not answered by judicial authorities. The reason for his arrest is still unknown at the time of writing.

Shakiba faced other arrests and convictions due to his civil activities.

Five Citizens Arrested by Security Forces in Piranshahr

On January 29, security forces arrested five citizens in Piranshahar City and transferred them to an unidentified location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Center of Democracy and Human Rights in Kurdistan, Ali Omarpour and Faryad Shilan were violently arrested by security forces. In another security force operation, Ayob Hadisti and Rahman Khedmatgozar were arrested.

Kurdpa reported that on Saturday, another citizen identified as Morad Mame-Rash was arrested by security forces.

In all cases, the security forces did not show an arrest warrant.

The reason for these arrests, the arrestees’ whereabouts and the charges are still unknown at the time of writing.

Diako Tara Imprisoned to Serve Six Month Sentence

On January 26, Diako Tara, resident of Piranshahr City, was imprisoned in Naghadeh Prison to serve his six month sentence.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting the Center of Democracy and Human Rights in Kurdistan, on Wednesday, Tara was charged for “collaboration with an opposition political party”.

On July 11, 2020, the security forces arrested him in Piranshahr City. He was released on bail on July 23, 2020.

Brothers Dana and Zana Ahmadpour Arrested by Security Forces in Baneh

On January 27, security forces arrested two brothers identified as Dana and Zana Ahmadpour in Baneh City and transferred them to an unidentified location.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, security forces raided Dana Ahmadpour’s house and arrested him at their home without an arrest warrant. Thereafter, Zana Ahamadpour was summoned by the Ministry of Intelligence via phone and arrested at his appearance.

The reasons for their arrest and their whereabouts are still unknown at the time of writing.

Chia Agha-Beygpour Jailed to Serve His Sentence in Bukan Prison

On January 25, Chia Agha-Beygpour, a resident of Bukan City, was jailed to serve his sentence. In November of last year, he was sentenced to one year and two months imprisonment, 74 lashes and a fine.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, Chia Agha-Beygpour was sent to Bukan Prison to serve his one year and two months imprisonment.

In November of last year, the Revolutionary Court of Bukan convicted him for ” “propaganda against the regime” in favor of one of the opposition political parties.

On July 29, 2021, security forces arrested and held him in a detention centre at the disposal of the Ministry of Intelligence in Bukan. During the arrest, he had been deprived of contacting his family and having a lawyer. On September 6, he was released on bail until the end of legal proceedings.

One Kolbar Killed, Another Injured in Direct Shooting by Regime Military Forces

On January 6, at a border area in Nosud, Kermanshah Province, two Kolbars (cross-border carriers) were killed and injured in a direct shooting by regime military forces.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Kurdpa, military forces killed one Kolbar and injured the other. The Kolbars were identified by the first names Freydun and Sirius. The injured Kolbar’s condition is still unknown.

Many poor people living in border areas work as Kolbars to make ends meet. This work is illegal and involves carrying loads on foot across national borders. Yearly, dozens of Kolbars are injured and killed from accidents, dangerous conditions, and border guard shootings.

Four Children From Nomadic Communities Severely Injured in a Landmine Accident

On January 6, four children in Mehran County, Ilam Province were severely injured due to a landmine explosion. Each year, explosive remnants of landmines from the Iraq-Iran War cause the death or injury of many people at border areas.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Mehr News Agency, four children from a nomadic community aged 13 to 14 years old were severely injured due to a landmine blast. They all were hospitalized in Mehran County.

There are about 42,000 square kilometers of war zones in Iran that have not been fully demined from the Iran-Iraq war.

In flagrant violation of international conventions, the regime is still using landmines to secure its borders.

Accordingly, there are still thousands of landmines planted in Iran in the border areas with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq. The regime also planted many landmines in Kurdistan during the conflicts of the 1980s.

Ahad Mahmood Hassan Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment

Ahad Mahmood Hassan, resident of Piranshahr, was sentenced to six months in prison by the Criminal Court of Piranshahr City.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting the Center of Democracy and Human Rights in Kurdistan, one of Hassan’s charges was “collaboration with one of the opposition political parties”.

On April 24, 2020, he was arrested by security forces and sent to Naghadeh Prison after interrogation. On June 10, 2020, he was released on a surety bond until the end of legal proceedings.
