Ehsan Shahqasemi Released from the Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ehsan Shahqasemi who had been sentenced to death on charge of murder of a Basij member was released by the end of the sentence of the general aspects of the crime and also obtaining the consent of the victim’s parents, the charge of murder and the death sentence of Shahqasemi had taken place in circumstances that the death of “Ali Khalili” was three years after the clash and the he had consented officially and received the payment as the blood money or the cost of treatment.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ehsan Shahqasemi and his friends had a conflict with Ali Khalili, a member of Basij in 2011, during which Shahqasemi stabbed Khalili with a knife.
Ali Khalili was hospitalized for some time and had several surgeries and was discharged from the hospital, but he died three years later, in April 2014.
Ali Khalili and his family had consented to Ehsan Shahqasemi in the case of the conflict, but after his death that case began to flow again and Ehsan Shahqasemi was charged with murder. Iran’s chief coroner announced that his death was not unconnected to being stabbed.
Amnesty International also issued a statement condemning the death sentence of Ehsan Shahqasemi and stated that he had not had a good and fair trial and access to a lawyer of his choice and in principle he had been tried once and was forgiven.
After the death of Ali Khalili a group called him a “martyr of enjoining good and forbidding wrong”.
According to the consent of the parents of Khalili, the execution stopped and the case was sent to the branch 10 of criminal court for checking the general aspects of crime. The court convened the hearing to check the general aspects of the crime on January 12, 2016 and the sentenced the accused in connection with general aspects of the crime to three years and five months in prison.
Mohammadreza Zamani, Ehsan Shahqasemi’s lawyer, reported his client’s freedom and said: “The sentence of his client has ended and he was released a week before the holidays of Nowrouz.”
