Evin Prison: Behnam Moosivand Injured / Ali Moezzi Exiled

HRANA News Agency – Following the conflict between few political and normal prisoners in hall number 10 of ward number 8 of Evin prison, Behnam Moosivand, political prisoner, was beaten and his head was injured. Ali Moezzi, other political prisoner of this ward was exiled to Rajaei Shahr prison for complaining about the condition to officials.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a conflict happened between normal and political prisoners of hall number 10 of ward number 8, in Evin prison.

A close source to these political prisoners told HRANA’s reporter, “A physical fight happened between political and normal prisoners in hall number 10 of ward number 8, in Evin prison”.

Ali Moezzi, other political prisoner who complained about the condition to ward’s authorities, was exiled to Rajaei Shahr prison. Mr. Moezzi is not in good health condition and is suffering from constant intestine bleeding.

Ali Moezzi is suffering from prostate, bladder cancer, and kidney diseases, and has been deprived from furlough and proper medical treatments so far.

Need to be mentioned, he is charged with propaganda against the regime in a new case. He was summoned to branch number 28 of the revolutionary court last December and sentenced to one year in prison by judge Moghiseh. He did not have access to a lawyer. He had previously been charged and sentenced for the same reason in Karaj court.

Mr. Moezzi who had been arrested and imprisoned during 1980s, too, was arrested in autumn 2007 and sentenced to certain two years in prison and conditional 3 years in prison. He was released after two years from Rajaei Shahr prison, and again imprisoned in June 2011.

This political prisoner was sentenced to 4 years in prison for supporting the Mojahedin-e-Khalgh (MEK) organization and was supposed to be released in April 2015. But he was tried in absentia and sentenced to1 years in prison by branch number 15 of the revolutionary court.

Behnam Moosivand, civil rights activist, who was sentenced to 1 year in prison along with Arash Sadeghi, Golrokh Iraei and Navid Kamrani in one case, summited himself to prison on June 12 in order to serve his three years sentence, due to fact that his conditional 2 years prison came into effect, after his newest case. He was transferred to hall number 10 of ward number 8.
