HRANA News Agency – Abdulfattah Solatni, lawyer and human rights activist who has been in prison since 2011, has been diagnosed with different diseases like acute neurological diseases, colitis and fluctuation in blood pressure. Mr. Soltani who has passed his 2000th day of imprisonment, faces rejection of his parole.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Abdulfattah Soltani, is one of the human rights lawyers. He was arrested on September 10, 2011, and sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment and 20 years deprivation of working as an attorney, for being the winner of human rights prize of Nuremburg, having interviews with foreign media about his clients’ cases, and partnership in funding the association of human rights defenders of Iran. His sentence was reduced to 13 years in prison in the appeal court.
After applying article 134 of penal code, his sentence was reduced to 10 years. In addition his deprivation was reduced to 2 years.
This imprisoned lawyer has served more than 2000 days of his sentence in ward 350 of Evin prison.
A close source to his family told HRANA’s reporter regarding the last physical condition of this imprisoned human rights activist, “multiple diseases that he is suffering from are among the effects of imprisonment. Lack of proper nutrition and clean water, resulted in problems in his teeth and anemia. In addition stress and pressure resulted in colitis and high fluctuation of blood pressure”.
This informed source explained the last status of his case, “according to article 58 of Islamic Penal Act, he is entitled to parole, but there is no motive for implementing the law. The same condition exists about the furlough that during past 6 years he received only once, while it should be 3 days in month. It is now many years that his lawyers have applied for parole, but there is no news about the processing of the case”.
