Iraj Mohammadi in Critical Health Condition in Central Prison of Tabriz

HRANA News Agency – Iraj Mohammadi, political prisoner in Tabriz prison, is in a critical physical condition. This prisoner along with Mohammad Amin Agooshi was transferred to Tabriz prison since two weeks ago in the 7th year of imprisonment.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Iraj Mohammadi who suffers from epilepsy and psychological problems, was transferred from Zahedan prison to Tabriz prison, since two weeks ago and is kept without adequate medical care and even has not received his medications yet.
An informed source, by announcing this news also said to HRANA’s reporter: “Mr. Mohammadi in Zahedan was examined and approved by the Medical Commission that he should get medical treatment. But, the process is not respected in Tabriz prison and prison authorities do not give a good answer.”
The source emphasized: “Currently, his situation is inappropriate. Due to the harsh conditions of prison and eight months in solitary confinement in the prison of the Revolutionary Guards in Urmia along with being beaten, and in particular because of blows to his head, he is suffering from mental illness requiring treatment and medications in Tabriz prison.”
Iraj Mohammadi was arrested along with Mohammad Amin Agooshi and Ahmad Pooladkhani, on charges of espionage, in May 2009, and finally was sentenced to ten years imprisonment in exile in April 2012. Mr. Mohammadi is 37 years old and currently spends his 7th year in prison.
