2 Political Prisoners Released from Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Two political prisoners, Karim Maroof Aziz and Vahid Asghari were released according to the leadership’s amnesty.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Vahid Asghari and Karim Maroof Aziz political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison were released because of the leadership’s amnesty.
Vahid Asghari, informatics student at the University of Bangalore, India, was arrested at Imam Khomeini International Airport when leaving the country and on charges of propaganda against the regime and launching anti-religious and opposition websites, on 7th May 2008. In 2011 and 2012 he was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court, but each time these verdicts were broken by the Supreme Court and his case he was undecided. He was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment and had been kept in prison for 8 years without furlough.
Karim Maroof Aziz, who had been sentenced to life time imprisonment and had spent 19 years of his imprisonment without furlough, had had 3 surgeries in prison and an appendix operation and stomach operation in the past. Karim Maroof Aziz, prisoner of political prisoners’ Hall in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj is a citizen of Iraq.
