HRANA News Agency – Morteza Teradion hacker and Iranian network security expert, was sentenced to two years in prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Morteza Teradion was detained on 4th September 2013 on charge of acting against national security by spying with hacking for hostile governments, however after being kept for 2 months in solitary confinement in ward 240 and 2 months in general ward 209 the accusation was changed to gathering and conspiracy to commit a crime against national security.
His case formerly was assessed by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court which presided by Judge Salvati and on 30th June he was tried in this branch but the branch referred the case to his home city, Karaj. On 10th July he was tried in branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj that resulted to 2 years imprisonment verdict issued on 12th July.
An informed source told HRANA’s reporter: “Morteza Teradion had asked several times from court branches, branch 15 of Tehran and branch 1 of Karaj Revolutionary Court for presence of a network security expert in his trials to prove his action is not kind of hacking and this is a common ordinary practice in business.”
Morteza Teradion has been convicted on charges of “acting against national security through social hacking and conspiracy to commit crimes against national security”.
Indeed, he has appealed the conviction and his case has been sent to Appeal Court.
