Kurdish Political Prisoner Yashar Kara Transferred to Ghazvin Prison

HRANA – Following a hunger strike by a group of political prisoners in Oroumiyeh Prison in early April, Yashar Kara was transferred from Oroumiyeh prison to Ghazvin prison yesterday.
According to Radio Zamaneh, Yashar Kara, a political prisoner from Turkey’s Kurdestan region who is serving a three year sentence, was transferred to Ghazvin prison.
The reason for the transfer of this prisoner who has spent 17 months of his sentence in Oroumiyeh prison is said to be his protest against the distribution of narcotics in the prison.
Other reports received from Oroumiyeh prison indicate that at least eight other political prisoners who had participated in the April protest may also be transferred to another prison.
