Lack of Medican Equipment and Staff in Mahabad Prison

HRANA News Agency – It has been reported that the situation of medical facilities in Mahabad prison is very inappropriate and lack of medical staff has put the ill prisoners in trouble.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), prisoners of Mahabad prison complained against the lack of medical staff after office hours and lack of medicines and medical equipment, even though the existence of medical staff is also problematic.

An informed source said to HRANA’s reporter in this regard, “Because the average age of the prisoners in Mahabad prison is nearly forty years, the number of ill prisoners in need of medical care is very high. However, a small clinic with three rooms and a doctor, a medical officer and a person who works in pharmacy and a prisoner who helps them is all what we have. The prisoners are usually given a pain killer for their problems.”

The source stated that there was no doctor after office hours and said: “If anyone needs medical care and treatment after business hours it should be announced to the guard and when he was delayed and the prisoner would be in critical condition, he would call the emergency and they reach after half an hours.”
