At Least 4 Prisoners Executed in Rajai Shahr Prison of Karaj

HRANA News Agency – Four prisoners were executed in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj at the same time as the Iranian president lectured at the UN headquarters, and the human rights issue in Iran was at the center of international attention.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), four prisoners were executed in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj on September 20, 2017.

The prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement in two groups, and at least one of them had been transferred from Varamin prison to Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj.

The number of prisoners who had been transferred to solitary confinement, was reported to be higher than the number of them returned to their wards, with the suspension of sentence.

The executed prisoners were all accused of “murder” and were sentenced to death. The identity of the prisoners which have been authenticated by HRANA are as follows:

Saeed Abbaspour, Jafar Zamani, Mojtaba Ghiasvand, Jamshid Javanbakht, Hossein Alishir, Siamak Nemati, who had been transferred from ward 2,3 and 6 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj.

Masoud Ekhtiari and Manouchehr Iranshahi were transferred from ward 7, hall of 19 and 20 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj.

Shahpour Ahmadi was transferred from Khorin Prison of Varamin to Rajai Shahr of Karaj.

One of Mr. Ahmadi’s close relatives told HRANA about him, “Shahpour Ahmadi was in jail for five years in Khorin prison due to killing his nephew and he was transferred to solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj on Monday, September 18, 2017.”

The names of the prisoners who were executed are: “Saman Mohammadi, Jamshid Javanbakht, a prisoner named Hesam from ward 2 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj and Reza Heidari”.

At the same time, one of Mr. Ahmadi’s closest relatives told HRANA’s reporter: “thankfully, Mr. Ahmadi was returned to Varamin prison and he was told that his execution had been postponed forty days.”
