At Least 7 Prisoners Hanged in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj

HRANA News Agency – At least seven prisoners were executed in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, and there is still no news about one other prisoner.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the death penalty of at least seven prisoners was implemented in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj. They were transferred to the solitary confinement on Monday and were executed in Tuesday morning, 12th April.

The names of these seven prisoners are Ayad Mohammadi, Mohammad Zarei, Mehdi Haghshenas, Javad Sadeghi, Mostafa Ejlali, Mohammad Javad Mozaffari, Hussein Moeinfar (Moeini).

According the reports received by HRANA, Mehdi Kaheh, one of those who had been transferred to the solitary confinement, was saved from death by obtaining the consent of the next of kin of the victim, but, there is no news about the other prisoner, Hamzeh Dolatabadi, who was transferred along other prisoners to solitary confinement, too.

It is noteworthy, Amnesty International recently reported that the year 2015 had the highest rate of executions in the world in the past 25 years, and Iran, along with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were announced as the countries with the highest number of executions.

Said Boumedouha, Deputy Director of Amnesty International’s Middle East and North Africa, said in another statement on the execution of Rashid Koohi; “Rashid Koohi’s imminent execution, after a few days that Iran was announced as the second country that has a high number of executions in the annual report of Amnesty International in 2015, suggests that the Iranian authorities have decided to continue similarly the terrible trend of executions in Iran, as it was”.
