Majid Azarpay Released On The Bail After 8 Months Of Detention

HRANA News Agency – Majid Azarpay, political prisoner was released on the bail after eight months in detention. This reformist activists had been arrested in June and was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months imprisonment and 3 million Tomans fine in the first trial by the 28th branch of the revolutionary court headed by Judge Moghayase.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Majid Azarpay, political activist was arrested in the campaign of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Hassan Rohani by the forces of the revolutionary guards on June 16, 2014 and was held in ward 2-A of Evin prison for two months.
Judge Moghayase sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months imprisonment and 3 million Tomans fine on charges of propaganda against the regime and gathering and colluding to act against the national security.
Majid Azarpay was transferred to ward 8 of Evin prison after the interrogations. He along with Ali Shariati went on hunger strike to protest at no investigations on the case and extension of the detention. They ended their strike at the request of a group of civil activists and families after more than twenty days.
Majid Azarpay was held in ward 8 of Evin prison until his freedom and he is free on the bail of 700 million thomans until definitive sentence would be issued and implemented.
