Mehdi Kookhian and Sajad Afroozian Ended Hunger Strike in Maragheh Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mehdi Kookhian and Sajad Afroozian were transferred from intelligence corps of the revolutionary guard’s detention centre to Maragheh prison. Mr. Afrouzian and Mr. Kookhian were on hunger strike previously but they have ended their hunger strike on an unknown date in this detention centre.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mehdi Kookhian and Sajad Afrouzian were transferred from intelligence corps of the revolutionary guard’s detention centre to Maragheh prison on the bail, on Sunday, January 22.
The issued bail for Mr. Afrouzian is 500 million IRR but there is no information about the issued amount for Mr. Kookhian.
Need to be mentioned, these prisoners who were on hunger strike, have ended their strike on an unknown date in the intelligence corps of the revolutionary guard’s detention centre.
It was reported previously that Mehdi Kookhian was beaten in the intelligence corps of the revolutionary guard’s detention centre. This civil rights activist had kept his lips sewn for three days after the transfer. But the interrogators opened his lips by force and beat him, even though he continued his strike.
Mehdi Kookhian and Karim Chaichian, two residents of Malekan were arrested by the security forces, on December 19th. Security forces have investigated their houses and seized some of their electronic devices and personal accessories.
According to close sources to Mehdi Kookhian and Karim Chaichain, a bail was issued for them, but they insisted that they were innocent and refused to put the bail.
Mr. Kookhian and Chaichain started hunger strike since they were transferred to Maragheh prison (December 21) by sewing their lips and were accordingly transferred to the quarantine ward of this prison.
Karim Chaichian was released in the last hours of December 25, but Mr. Kookhian was transferred to solitary confinements of intelligence corps of revolutionary guard’s ward.
According to close sources to Mehdi Kookhian and Karim Chaichian, the main reason behind these arrests was their activities in a Telegram channel with the name of (Malekan News).
This channel which was covering the issues around the Malekan city under the current laws and regulations of Iran, has more than 12500 members.
Mehdi Kookhian has many arrests in his record.
Sajad Afrouzian was arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location, on Sunday, January 15. Tis arrest was along with beating.
