Mehdi Motamedi Mehr Sent On Furlough From Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mehdi Motamedi Mehr, political prisoner and member of the political office of Nehzat-e-Azadi, was sent to furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mehdi Motamedi Mehr was sent to furlough from Rajai Shahr prison on Wednesday 7th October.
Mehdi Motamedi Mehr was arrested in April 2009 under the pretext of editing and publishing a statement demanding international monitoring on the tenth presidential elections and was released on the bail after 45 days in solitary confinement. The second time, after the events of Ashura in 2009 he was arrested on the charge of participating in the rally and after about two months, he was released in March.
He was eventually sentenced to five years imprisonment by Judge Moghiseh in a closed trial without a jury. He was charged with membership in the “Nehzat-e-Azadi”, “participating in the gathering of Ashura in 2009” and “Election campaigns”. This verdict was sent to the Court of Appeal and it was precisely upheld by Branch 54 of this court.
This political activist was re-arrested in March 2011 and was transferred to Rajai Shahr prison to serve his imprisonment.
