Pressures on Ayatollah Mohammadreza Nekounam Continue Despite Being Released

HRANA News Agency – Security forces monitor the traffic to Ayatollah Mohammadreza Nekounam’s house after he was released and limit his contacts.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ayatollah Mohammadreza Nekounam, seminary professor who was released from the coastal prison of Qom on June 23 is under the pressure and people who want to visit him are set under restrictions.
Security forces impede the free meeting of AyatollahNekounam’s students and relatives with him by continuous and obvious presence around his house.
Unofficial sources announced that in order to reduce the pressure on him, he needs to accept some conditions. Also it remains unclear if he has been released on furlough or parole.
Ayatollah Mohammadreza Nekounam, former imprisoned cleric and critic of the supreme leader who is suffering from multiple diseases was held in Qom prison for a sentence of 5 years, 18 months of which he had already served.
He was arrested in the wake of a critical speech and was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Special Court for the Clergy.
