Protesting Teachers under the Pressure of Intelligence Forces

HRANA News Agency – Some of the teachers in Tehran and Karaj, who had participated in teachers’ protest, last week were summoned and interrogated.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), during the last week, and after the teachers’ protest on 1st of March, several teachers who had participated in that gathering, were summoned to courts and security offices and were interrogated.

4 teachers of “Teachers Union” in Karaj, who were summoned to the Revolutionary Court in this city and were threatened that they must no longer be active in this union.

An infromed source, who announced this news, told HRANA’s reporter: “Esmail Abdi, Secretary General of the Teachers Union, also was summoned to Ministry of Intelligence on 8th March, and was pressured to resign in writing. Intelligence officers threatened him that if he does not resign from his post, then they will run his 10 years suspended imprisonment sentence.”

This source also added: “The wave of summoning protesting teachers still continues, by the security forces.”

It is to say, in the morning of Sunday 1st of March teachers in different cities of Iran, gathered  in protest against the low wages and discrimination in education.
