Saeed Sangar’s Sentence Reduced to 18 Years

HRANA News Agency – The life time imprisonment sentence for Saeed Sangar, political prisoner, was reduced to 18 years in the sixteenth year of his imprisonment in Urmia prison. Following the announcement and by considering the remaining two years and one month of his sentence, the date to release him would be July 26, 2018. Mr. Sangar has spent most of his imprisonment in exile in various prisons and in solitary confinement.
According to the announcement of Branch 4 of law enforcement office in Sananadj, the life time imprisonment sentence for Saeed Sangar, political prisoner, was reduced to 18 years in the sixteenth year of his imprisonment in Urmia prison.
Said Sangar, son of Mostafa, born on May 2, 1973, was arrested on August 31, 2000, but in the court’s record it has been written that he was arrested on October 29.
Mr. Sangar was charged with Muharebeh and supporting PMOI on November 18, 2000, less than 2 months after his arrest, and faced the death sentence by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, presided by Judge Fatemi, and then was transferred from the intelligence office in Sanandaj to ward 209 of Evin prison in Tehran. Till 2003 he was held in solitary confinement. In December 2003, his sentence was reduced by one degree to life time imprisonment by the Court of Appeal, and then he was transferred to the prison of Urmia.
This political prisoner was transferred from Urmia prison to Sanandaj prison on November 5, 2007 and was returned to Urmia prison September 1, 2015.
In 2014, Sanandaj Central Prison had requested for forgiveness and pardon for him and on December 23, 2015, according to Branch 4 of Law Enforcement Office in Sanandaj, the life time imprisonment sentence was commuted to 18 years imprisonment.
Saeed Sangar, political prisoner from Piranshahr, is now serving the sixteenth year of his imprisonment in Urmia prison.
