Sentences of 5 Political Prisoners Reduced to 2 Years

HRANA News Agency – Seyed Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaei, lawyer of the defendants of the case, known as “Influence Project” announced the reduction of their sentences to two years imprisonment by an appeals court in Tehran. Isa Saharkhiz, Ehsan Mazandarani (editor of Farhikhtegan newspaper), Saman Safarzaee (journalist of Andishe Pooya), Davud Asadi and Afarin Chitsaz were arrested by the Revolutionary Guards After Iranian leader’s speech about “influences of the enemy” and Tehran revolutionary court sentenced them to long-term Imprisonments.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the sentences of 4 political prisoners were reduced to 2 years.
Seyed Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaei, lawyer of the defendants by announcing the news to HRANA’s reporters said: “Fortunately court of appeal charged all defendants to two charges of propaganda against the regime and insulting and according to Article 134, the court considered a minimum sentence of 2 years for them.”
Isa Saharkhiz, Ehsan Mazandarani (editor of Farhikhtegan newspaper), Saman Safarzaee (journalist of Andishe Pooya), Davud Asadi and Afarin Chitsaz were arrested by the Revolutionary Guards after Iranian leader’s speech about “influences of the enemy”.
These media activists were charged with “membership of a network of intrusion, espionage, propaganda against the regime, insulting the regime and collusion.”
Judge Salvati of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced Afarin Chitsaz, Ehsan Mazandarani, Ehsan Safarzaie and Davud Asadi to 5 to 10 years and totally to 27 years in prison.
Afarin Chitsaz had been sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion to disrupt the national security and contact with foreign governments”.
Ehsan Mazandarani was sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion” and “activities against the state”. Davud Asadi and Ehsan Safarzaie were sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion” and “activities against the state”
Three court cases were formed against Isa Saharkhiz and in one of the cases the Revolutionary Court charged him with insulting the Supreme Leader and propaganda against the regime and sentenced him to three years in prison.
