At Least 10 Sunni Citizens Arrested in Ahvaz

HRANA – On Friday, September 4, at least 10 Sunni citizens were arrested after intelligence forces raided a gathering in Ahvaz. Following their arrest, they were transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to HRANA, ton Friday, September 4, 2026, intelligence forces entered a private residence in the Kuy-e Mashali neighborhood of Ahvaz and arrested at least 10 Sunni Arab citizens.

According to information received by HRANA, the citizens had gathered at the home of a friend for a meeting when intelligence forces surrounded the residence and entered the premises. During the raid, the forces beat several of those present and arrested them. The detainees were subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

HRANA has so far confirmed the identities of three of the detainees: Razi Heydari, 50; Hossein Heydari, 29; and Abdolhadi Asakereh, 30. The identities of the other detainees are still being investigated.

These citizens are residents of the Kuy-e Mashali and Akhar Asfalt neighborhoods of Ahvaz.

At the time of this report, despite several days having passed since their arrest, no information has been obtained regarding the detainees’ whereabouts or the charges brought against them.
