Serveh Shiri and Peyman Shiri Sentenced to a Combined 14 Months in Prison

Serveh Shiri and Peyman Shiri, siblings and residents of Bukan, have been sentenced to a total of 14 months in prison by Branch 101 of the Second Criminal Court of Bukan.

According to HRANA, citing Kurdpa, the court convicted the siblings on charges of “propaganda against the regime in favor of opposition groups.” Serveh Shiri received an eight-month sentence, while Peyman Shiri was sentenced to six months.

In September 2024, security forces arrested Serveh and Peyman Shiri in Bukan and transferred them to a security detention center in Urmia. After spending some time in custody, they were released on bail pending trial.

Osman Mameh, a 55-year-old resident of Bukan, has been held in detention for 727 days without any clear explanation from authorities. The prolonged lack of communication about his condition has left his family and relatives deeply concerned.

A source close to Mameh’s family told HRANA: “Despite nearly two years since his arrest and continuous efforts by his family to seek answers from security and judicial authorities in cities such as Bukan, Urmia, Karaj, and Tehran, no clear information has been provided. Mr. Mameh has not been allowed any contact with his family since his detention, which has only intensified their fears. Security officials have merely stated that he is alive and that the family would have been informed if he had died.”

Mameh was arrested by security forces on November 18, 2022, in Bukan.

As of this report, no details have been disclosed about the reasons for his arrest, the location of his detention, or the charges brought against him.

Solmaz Hassanzadeh Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Solmaz Hassanzadeh, sister of Mohammad Hassanzadeh, who was killed by regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests, has been sentenced to one year in prison by judicial authorities.

According to Kurdpa, the one-year sentence was issued by Branch 101 of Criminal Court Two in Bukan, presided over by Judge Mehdi Fakhri, on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

Though cases of this nature typically fall under the jurisdiction of the Revolutionary Court, the lack of such a court in Bukan means security-related cases are first referred to the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad. Once a decision is reached, the case is returned to Bukan’s Criminal Court for sentencing.

On July 30, Solmaz and her father were arrested by security forces while attempting to hold a memorial ceremony for Mohammad’s birthday. The next day, her father, Ahmad Hassanzadeh, was released on a bail of four billion tomans, while Solmaz was released on August 13 after posting a bail of 500 million tomans.

Solmaz Hassanzadeh had previously been detained by security forces at a checkpoint between Bukan and Saqqez on September 27 of last year, and was subsequently released.

Mohammad Hassanzadeh, a 28-year-old Bukan resident, was fatally shot during the 2022 protests and passed away on November 16 of that year.

Zahra Sajedinia Sentenced to Prison

Zahra Sajedinia, a resident of Bukan, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Criminal Court of this city, according to Kolbar News.

Based on a ruling issued by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two of Bukan and delivered to Ms. Sajedinia on September 29, she was sentenced to 10 months in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

Sajedinia was arrested by security forces on July 31 of this year. She was later released from Urmia prison on bail after completing her interrogation.

Zahra Sajedinia, 38 years old, is married, a mother of three, and a resident of Bukan.

Manijeh Khoshnoud Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison

Manijeh Khoshnoud, a resident of Bukan, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Criminal Court of Bukan, according to Kurdpa.

The sentence, issued by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two of Bukan and delivered to Khoshnoud yesterday, convicts her of “propaganda against the regime,” resulting in a 10-month prison sentence.

Manijeh Khoshnoud, 56, was arrested by security forces on July 31, 2024.

She was eventually released on bail from Bukan Prison on September 5, 2024.

Two Prisoners Executed in Urmia Prison

At dawn on October 10, two prisoners convicted of non-political offenses, including drug-related charges, were executed in Urmia Prison.

HRANA identified one of the executed individuals as Borhan Ansari, a resident of Urmia. Mr. Ansari was arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. The second prisoner, originally from Bukan, had also been sentenced to death for similar offenses.

As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant officials have yet to publicly confirm the executions.

Three Citizens Arrested by Security Forces in Bukan

On September 25, 2024, Sarveh Shiri and Peyman Shiri, siblings from Bukan, along with their cousin Fardin Shiri, were arrested by security forces and transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.

Kurdpa has confirmed the identities of the detainees: Sarveh Shiri, 22, Peyman Shiri, 19, and their cousin Fardin Shiri, all residents of Tarqeh village in Bukan.

Security forces arrested the three citizens at their residence in Targheh village without presenting a judicial warrant. They were subsequently transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.

As of this report, the reasons for their arrests and the charges against them remain unknown.

Father of Deceased Protester Mohammad Hassanzadeh Arrested

On the second anniversary of Mahsa (Jina) Amini’s death, Ahmad Hassanzadeh, the father of Mohammad Hassanzadeh, who was killed during the 2022 nationwide protests, was arrested by security forces on September 25 in front of his home in Bukan. He was subsequently taken to an undisclosed location.

According to Kolbar News, Mr. Hassanzadeh was detained by security forces directly outside his residence. Approximately an hour after his arrest, he managed to call his family, confirming that he was in custody.

As of this report, there is no information available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his current location, or any charges that may have been brought against him.

This is not the first time Mr. Hassanzadeh has been targeted by authorities. In late July, he and his daughter, Solmaz Hassanzadeh, were detained by security forces while attempting to hold a memorial ceremony for Mohammad’s birthday. He was released the following day on a four-billion-toman bail. Additionally, on September 4, 2023, both he and his daughter were summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence in Bukan and subjected to interrogation.

Mina Soltani, Mother of a Victim of the 2022 Nationwide Protests, Arrested

Yesterday, September 11, Mina Soltani, the mother of Shahryar Mohammadi, one of the victims of the 2022 nationwide protests, was arrested by security forces in Bukan and taken to an undisclosed location.

Milad Mohammadi, her son, shared the news, stating: “Security forces violently raided my mother’s house. She is not answering her phone, and we have no information about her whereabouts.”

As of the time of this report, the reasons for her arrest, the charges against her, and her place of detention remain unknown.

Mina Soltani’s son, Shahryar Mohammadi, was killed by gunfire on November 18, 2022, during the nationwide protests in Bukan.

Two Prisoners Executed in Miandoab Prison

At dawn on Monday, September 9, the death sentences of two prisoners convicted of murder were carried out in Miandoab Prison, according to a report by Kurdpa.

Their identities have been reported as “Soleiman Ghahremani, from Shahin Dezh, and Feyzollah Hosseinpour, married and father of three, from Shahin Dezh and residing in Bukan.”

These two prisoners were arrested five years ago on murder charges and were subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

No official sources or domestic media outlets within the country have provided coverage of these executions at the time of writing.

In 2023, 66% of HRANA’s reports on executions lacked official announcements by judicial authorities and went unreported by media inside Iran, highlighting a troubling lack of transparency in due process.

According to the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran, in 2023, at least 767 citizens, including 21 women and 2 juvenile offenders, were executed. Of these, the executions of 7 individuals were carried out in public. Additionally, during this period, 172 others were sentenced to death, with 5 of them sentenced to public execution. It is worth noting that during the same period, the initial death sentences of 49 other individuals were also upheld by the Supreme Court.
