The sentence, issued by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two of Bukan and delivered to Khoshnoud yesterday, convicts her of “propaganda against the regime,” resulting in a 10-month prison sentence.
Manijeh Khoshnoud, 56, was arrested by security forces on July 31, 2024.
She was eventually released on bail from Bukan Prison on September 5, 2024.
HRANA identified one of the executed individuals as Borhan Ansari, a resident of Urmia. Mr. Ansari was arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. The second prisoner, originally from Bukan, had also been sentenced to death for similar offenses.
As of the time of this report, prison authorities and relevant officials have yet to publicly confirm the executions.
The reports from the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists for the year 2023 reveal a concerning prevalence of executions for drug offenses in Iran, constituting 56.4% of the total executions. Kurdpa has confirmed the identities of the detainees: Sarveh Shiri, 22, Peyman Shiri, 19, and their cousin Fardin Shiri, all residents of Tarqeh village in Bukan.
Security forces arrested the three citizens at their residence in Targheh village without presenting a judicial warrant. They were subsequently transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.
As of this report, the reasons for their arrests and the charges against them remain unknown.
According to Kolbar News, Mr. Hassanzadeh was detained by security forces directly outside his residence. Approximately an hour after his arrest, he managed to call his family, confirming that he was in custody.
As of this report, there is no information available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his current location, or any charges that may have been brought against him.
This is not the first time Mr. Hassanzadeh has been targeted by authorities. In late July, he and his daughter, Solmaz Hassanzadeh, were detained by security forces while attempting to hold a memorial ceremony for Mohammad’s birthday. He was released the following day on a four-billion-toman bail. Additionally, on September 4, 2023, both he and his daughter were summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence in Bukan and subjected to interrogation.
Mohammad Hassanzadeh, a 28-year-old resident of Bukan, was fatally shot by regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests and died from his injuries on November 16 of that year.
Milad Mohammadi, her son, shared the news, stating: “Security forces violently raided my mother’s house. She is not answering her phone, and we have no information about her whereabouts.”
As of the time of this report, the reasons for her arrest, the charges against her, and her place of detention remain unknown.
Mina Soltani’s son, Shahryar Mohammadi, was killed by gunfire on November 18, 2022, during the nationwide protests in Bukan.
Their identities have been reported as “Soleiman Ghahremani, from Shahin Dezh, and Feyzollah Hosseinpour, married and father of three, from Shahin Dezh and residing in Bukan.”
These two prisoners were arrested five years ago on murder charges and were subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.
No official sources or domestic media outlets within the country have provided coverage of these executions at the time of writing.
In 2023, 66% of HRANA’s reports on executions lacked official announcements by judicial authorities and went unreported by media inside Iran, highlighting a troubling lack of transparency in due process.
According to the Department of Statistics and Publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran, in 2023, at least 767 citizens, including 21 women and 2 juvenile offenders, were executed. Of these, the executions of 7 individuals were carried out in public. Additionally, during this period, 172 others were sentenced to death, with 5 of them sentenced to public execution. It is worth noting that during the same period, the initial death sentences of 49 other individuals were also upheld by the Supreme Court.
Mr. Hasani, who was injured during the November 2019 protests, was sentenced to 31 months in prison by the 101st Branch of the Criminal Court 2 of Bukan in July of this year.
On January 23, 2024, Hasani was arrested by security forces at his family home without a court order. He was released on bail from Bukan Prison on February 22, 2024.
His trial was held on May 16, 2024, in the 101st Branch of the Criminal Court 2 of Bukan, where he was charged with “inciting warfare and violence to disrupt national security, as well as propaganda against the regime.”
Hasani lost the sight in one of his eyes at the age of 19 when he was shot during the nationwide protests in Bukan in November 2019.
The report states that these individuals were arrested by security forces with physical violence at their private residence in Bukan. The officers also confiscated the mobile phones of the father, daughter, and mother.
According to a source cited in the report, “This family was attempting to hold a ceremony to commemorate the birthday of Mohammad Hassanzadeh, who was killed during the 2022 nationwide protests. However, the security agencies prevented this and arrested them.”
As of the time of this report, the whereabouts and the charges against these citizens are unknown.
Ahmad Hassanzadeh and his approximately 30-year-old daughter, Solmaz, were summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence’s office in Bukan and interrogated on September 5, 2023.
Additionally, Ms. Hassanzadeh was arrested at a checkpoint between Bukan and Saqqez by security forces on September 27 last year and was released shortly thereafter.
It is worth noting that Mohammad Hassanzadeh, a 28-year-old resident of Bukan, was shot by regime forces during the 2022 nationwide protests and succumbed to his injuries on November 16 of the same year.
In July 2023, Mr. Amini was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Bukan to six months and fifteen days in prison and forty lashes for “disrupting public order.”
Amini was arrested by security forces on June 9th last year during a protest gathering at the burial place of Danial Pabandi, another victims during the the 2022 nationwide protests. He was released on bail from Bukan Prison after four days of detention.
According to published reports, Mohammad Amini was shot and killed by security forces on October 8, 2022, during protests in Sanandaj.
A source close to Mameh’s relatives confirmed this news to HRANA: “Despite 600 days passing since Mr. Mameh’s arrest and the family’s follow-ups with security and judicial authorities, the relevant officials refuse to provide a clear answer regarding his status. Mameh has not had any contact with his family since his arrest, which has added to the concerns of his family and acquaintances. The only response from security agencies is that if he had died, they would have been informed.”
Mameh, 55, was arrested by security forces in Bukan on November 18, 2022.
As of the time of this report, no information has been obtained regarding the reasons for his arrest, his place of detention, or the charges against him.
