Hamid Babai Deprived of Having Prison Visit

HRANA News Agency – Hamid Babai’s family had gone to visit him at Rajai Shahr prison, but they were told that Mr. Babai had been sent to solitary confinement and was not allowed to have visitors because of profanity. After continuous follow-up by the family, it was found out that this claim was not true and Mr. Babai had protested against the prison warden because he had avoided to send his complaint to the judge of his case and was arbitrary punished. Mr. Babbai has protested at Mohammad Mardani, head of prison, because of illegally preventing him from following the legal process of his case, and the warden took the advantage of his position out of prison procedures and regulations, and denied him having visitors and made his family worried about him, by false claims.

According to the report Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), a source close to Babai family told HRANA’s reporter:  “Hamid’s wife had gone from the city of Qazvin to visit him in Rajai Shahr prison in Kara, and she was told that Hamid was incommunicado because of profanity and he was in solitary confinement. She was told to go to the court to pursue the new case. His wife was worried and went there and she found from the law-enforcement office that he was not in the solitary confinement. By contacting the prosecution, she realized that he was not incommunicado, and there was nothing in that regard recorded in the system”. Hamid Babai’s Charges Changed and Retrial Rejected

HRANA News Agency – The charges against Hamid Babai, political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj were changed in the case whose verdict had recently been issued and approved by the Court of Appeal and according to the new charges, the Supreme Court rejected his retrial request. Mr. Babai is suffering from eardrum, chronic and progressive infection and his medical furlough request is being rejected by the Ministry of Intelligent.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), although Hamid Babai had been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment and 4 years suspended imprisonment on charges of “espionage and contact with enemy states” and the sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeal but the charges against him have been changed to “encouraging people to commit a crime and crimes against internal and external security” in the Supreme Court and his retrial request was rejected. Authorities Prevented Hamid Babai From Being Transferred To Hospital

HRANA News Agency – The officials in Rajaei Shahr prison prevented Hamid Babai from being transferred to the hospital, despite the court permission and the booked appointment in the hospital. The wife of this prisoner said, the request of furlough was also rejected with the order of the security officials.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hamid Babai was supposed to be transferred to Imam Khomaini hospital, but despite having court permission and booking the appointment with the physician, prison authorities stopped it. Hamid Babai Transferred To The Hospital

HRANA News Agency – Hamid Babai, political prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison of Karaj, was transferred to the hospital after two years of continues efforts regarding his hearing problems.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), after being transferred on December 30, to Imam Khomaini hospital in Karaj, his problem is recognized as ruptured eardrum, and after giving prescription he was asked to be returned with the results of the examination after a week. An imprisoned student sentenced to 10 years in prison

HRANA News Agency – The 10 years in prison sentence of Hamid Babai, the PhD student who was studying in Belgium, is confirmed by the appeal court.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hamid Babai, the PhD student who was studying at the University of Liege in Belgium and had come to Iran for visiting his family, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charge of espionage and cooperation with conflicting governments, in branch number 15 of revolutionary court, by chief judge Salavati, on December 21, 2013.
