Keyvan Karimi Transferred to Ward 8 of Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Keyvan Karimi, famous filmmaker, who had been arrested previously to endure the sentence of whipping and imprisonment and had been transferred to Evin prison’s quarantine, was eventually moved to ward 8 of Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Keyvan Karimi, a prominent Iranian filmmaker, who had been summoned through a phone call to provide some explanations to branch one of Shahid Moghadas court, located in Evin prison in Tehran, was arrested there for the sentence of one-year imprisonment and 223 lashes and was moved to the quarantine of Evin prison, on Wednesday, November 23. Keyvan Karimi Arrested to Serve His Sentence

HRANA News Agency – On November 23, 2016, Keyvan Karimi, prominent Iranian filmmaker who was summoned to the law enforcement of branch 1 of Shahid Moghadas court in Evin prison during a phone call to provide some explanations, was arrested and transferred to the quarantine ward of Evin prison to serve his 1 year in prison and 223 lashes.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Keyvan Karimi was sentenced to 6 years in prison and 223 lashes on charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic and blasphemy” due to creating a documentary about the history of graffiti in Tehran called “Writing on the City”, whose sentence was reduced to one year in prison and five years of probation and 223 lashes at the appeal court. The Jury of Documentary Section of the Cannes Film Festival Called to Cancel Keyvan Karimi’s Sentence

HRANA News Agency – The jury of documentary section of the 61 th Cannes Film Festival called to cancel the sentence of Keyvan Karimi on its website in part of introducing the judges and documentary films which compete, attracting audience’s attention to the fate of the Iranian artist sentenced to imprisonment, lashing and a fine and called for continued international effort to cancel his sentence in an article entitled “Solidarity with Iranian filmmaker Keyvan Karimi”.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), in the documentary section of the 61th Cannes Film Festival, 17 films nominated and award “Golden Eye” on May 21, 2016 will be awarded to the best documentary at the discretion of jury. Keyvan Karimi Sentenced To Imprisonment And Lashes In The Appeal Court

HRANA News Agency – Branch 54 of the Tehran province Appeals Court sentenced Keyvan Karimi to 223 lashes, 20 million Tomans fine, one year imprisonment and one year suspended imprisonment. The verdict was announced to this filmmaker’s lawyer, on Saturday.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), he had already been sentenced to six years in prison and 223 lashes by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by judge Moghiseh in October.
