Singers Vafa Ahmadpour and Danial Moghaddam Sentenced to Prison and Additional Punishments

Vafa Ahmadpour, known as “Vafadar,” and Danial Moghaddam (Moghadam) were each sentenced to one year in prison, a two-year travel ban, and a two-year ban on online activities by the Shiraz Revolutionary Court. Their prison sentences will be served outside prison under electronic monitoring.

Based on the ruling issued by Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court, Ahmadpour and Moghaddam were found guilty of “propaganda against the regime.” Their prison sentences will be served outside of prison under electronic monitoring, and they will complete their sentences with restricted movement within a specific radius from their homes.

The court session to address the charges against Vafa Ahmadpour and Danial Moghaddam took place on August 6 at the Shiraz Revolutionary Court.

Moghaddam and Ahmadpour were arrested by security forces in Shiraz on May 9, 2024, and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Shiraz, known as the House No. 100. They were later moved to the central detention facility of Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

On July 6, Danial Moghaddam was released on bail from this prison.

Vafa Ahmadpour is currently serving a one-year prison sentence in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz for a previous case. He was sentenced to one year in prison by the Revolutionary Court for “propaganda against the regime.”

Report on the Latest Status of Writer Mehrzad Mousavi in Adelabad Prison

Mehrzad Mousavi, a writer and historian, is serving his sentence in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. He was previously sentenced by the Shiraz Revolutionary Court to eleven years in prison and two years of exile in Kerman.

Based on information received by HRANA, Mr. Mousavi was previously sentenced by Branch 1 of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court to five years in prison for the charge of “membership in anti-regime groups,” five years in prison for the charge of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security,” one year in prison for the charge of “propaganda against the regime,” and two years of exile to Bardsir, Kerman.

This writer and historian was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents at his home in Shiraz in early November 2023 and transferred to Adelabad Prison in this city.

Mousavi has made contributions to the realm of literature and historical research, with notable works to his name such as “An Inquiry into Achaemenid Art Antecedents” and “Iran in Two Invasions.”

Workers’ Rights Advocate Mohammad Davari Imprisoned to Serve Sentence

On May 14, 2024, workers’ rights advocate Mohammad Davari was imprisoned in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz to begin serving his four-year, six-month sentence. Three years of this term are enforceable.

A source close to Davari’s family confirmed to HRANA his incarceration in Adelabad Prison.

In November of last year, the Shiraz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mahmood Sadati, sentenced Davari to three years in prison, a two-year prohibition from leaving the country, a ban on social media activities, and a two-year mandatory residence in Bardsir County for “insulting the Supreme Leader of Iran.” Additionally, Davari received a one-year and six-month sentence for “propaganda against the regime in favor of anti-regime groups.”

According to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, which stipulates that in cases of multiple charges, the harshest punishment shall be enforced, Davari will serve three years in prison.

Earlier, a source informed HRANA that the court did not cite any specific action as the basis for the aforementioned charges. According to this source, Davari also faces a charge of “disseminating false information” from the Shiraz Criminal Court.

Notably, Mohammad Davari has a history of prior arrests and convictions stemming from his activism. He is a civil engineering graduate from Yasuj University and a political science Master’s student from Shiraz Payam Noor University.
