12 Sunni Men from Mahabad Arrested in Iran

HRANA News Agency – 12 Sunni youth have been arrested by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the men, originally from the city of Mahabad, had left the city for a holiday and prayed congregational Friday prayers in a village near to their holiday resort on Friday 16 January 2015.

According to eyewitnesses, the men had just begun to eat lunch after returning from the mosque when they were surrounded by dozens of IRGC agents and arrested.

So far, the Iranian authorities have not provided any official reason for their arrest.

The names of the 12 men are: Mohsen Daryanoosh, Shahab Zarin, Majid Khakdan, Kamil Nejati, Reza Makri, Reza Soltani Azar, Nader Rasooli, Mansour Hosseinzadeh, Mansour Naderi, Seddigh Kaaka Mami, Jalil Badawi and Ahmad Dehnad.

The detainees were reportedly transferred to the city of Orumieh at 10 pm on 17 January 2015.
