A Prisoner Executed in Qazvin Before the End of Due Process

HRANA News Agency – Nusratullah Khazayi was executed in January, while his family says his case was still pending in the prosecutor and his death sentence was not finalized. In follow-up after his execution, several judicial authorities in Tehran Prosecutor’s office told them that the prisoner should have not been executed. This case can be another example of the concern of opponents of the death penalty who have emphasized on its irreversible and irrevocable nature.

Nahid Gorji Released on Parole after Serving 22 Months

HRANA News Agency – Nahid Gorji, prisoner of conscience in Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad was released on parole by serving 22 months of her sentence of 3 year. When she was in detention, various reports on her critical physical and mental condition were released while she was deprived of proper medical care and the officials prevented to deliver her medicine which was provided by her family.

Karen Vafadari and Afarin Neisari Charged in Shahid Moghadas Court of Evin

HRANA News Agency – Karen Vafadari and Afarin Neisari, Zoroastrian Iranian-American couple in the sixth month of their detention were informed of their security charges in Shahid Moghadas Court, in Evin Prison. In addition to “recruiting and introducing spies, and assembly and collusion against national security”, this couple has been charged with “showing and selling art works contrary to Islamic principles” in their gallery.

Mohammad Saber Malek Raisi Beaten and Insulted in Ardebil Prison

HRANA News Agency – Mohammad Saber Malek Raisi, Baloch political prisoner, on day eight of his hunger strike in exile in Ardebil prison, was insulted and beaten by the head of prison’s security force, because of writing a letter and going on hunger strike. This action was done by the Ardebil prison’s officials while Mr. Malek Reisi had been fastened to the flagpole in prison yard, with handcuffs and shackles, in the cold weather, and despite being on hunger strike and being beaten he has not yet been transferred to the infirmary.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mohammad Saber Malek Raisi, Baloch political prisoner in Ardabil prison, who was on hunger strike, because of this protesting action and writing an open letter, was beaten by the head of security at this prison. HRANA News Agency – Masoumeh Zia was arrested at the airport when she was returning to Iran. Couple of hours after the arrest, security officers went to her house along with her, and searched her house, and then took her electronics and communication gadgets with them. According to the officers, a news case has been opened against her.

Atena Daemi Protests Against Summoning Her Family

HRANA News Agency – Atena Daemi, human rights activist and prisoner of women’s ward of Evin prison, carried a dry hunger strike in protest to what she believes to be the fabrication and profiling a case against her family to put more pressure on her, in warden’s office, and demanded a visit with prosecutor of ward 2-A and judiciary, after she was informed that her family were summoned to the court. As a result, she who wanted to communicate her protest, visited the head of prison, but he instead of following up, asked her to get back her compliant against the revolutionary guards with a threatening tone.

A close source to Atena Daemi told to HRANA’s reporter, “After Atena was informed that her family were summoned, she wrote a letter and demanded to visit the representative of the prosecutor of ward 2-A and judiciary. Shokoufeh Azar Masoule’s Appeal Court Held in Tehran

HRANA News Agency – On December 31, 2016, the Appeal Court of Shokoufeh Azar Masoule, civil activist, was held. She had previously been sentenced to one year in prison and five years of probation by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court. One of Ms. Azar’s charges was participating in demonstrations in protest against acid attacks.
