A Brief Report on the Situation of Minab Prison

HRANA News Agency – In Minab prison besides the inhumane conditions, there is a strange punishment for prisoners which is called by the authorities “Pa ziyarat” means “pilgrimage”. They say that it could “Heal” the prisoners. The report also raised the possibility of sexual abuse of young prisoners by prison guards.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a prisoner who had recently been released from prison said to the HRANA that “There is a column in prison where the prisoners are handcuffed and shackled to it for punishment, so that they cannot turn their head and this punishment might take 10 to 15 days. UN Human Rights Council Extended Ahmed Shaheed’s Mandate

HRANA News Agency – The United Nations Human Rights Council, by 20 votes in favor, 15 against and 11 abstentions, extended the mandate of the special rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran for one more year.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the resolution on the human rights situation in Iran “L. 27” adopted at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and the mandate of Ahmed Shaheed was extended for one more year. A Report on Political Prisoners’ Nowruz Furlough

HRANA News Agency – Among the hundreds of conscience prisoners, at least 13 of them from prisons across the country were send to Nowruz furlough or have been released on the eve of the New Year.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), prisoners of conscience who have been sent to Nowruz furlough this year are: Ali Hashemi, Hadi Heidari, Keyvan Mehregan, Mostafa Tajzadeh, Mostafa Azizi, Mahmood Beheshti, Meysam Mohammadi, Amir Nazar Nouri, Amir Golestani and Massoud Syed Talibi. Security Forces Beat Political Prisoners’ Families in front of Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – A number of civil society activists and the families of political prisoners including father of “Athena Farghadani” who sit in in front of Evin prison on the eve of Persian New Year, have been beaten by the security forces.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), a group of civil society activists, including supporters of “Mohammad Ali Taheri” and relatives of political prisoners who were not sent to the so-called Nowruz furlough, had a sit in in front of Evin prison to begin the new year close to their beloved ones, but some people, including the father of Athena Farghadani and Dr. Farhad Maysami were beaten by the security forces. Abdul-Reza Ghanbari Released from Rajai Shahr Prison

HRANA News Agency – Abdul-Reza Ghanbari, imprisoned teacher who had been initially sentenced to death and later his sentence had been reduced to 15 years of imprisonment, and eventually to 10 years of imprisonment, was released from Rajai Shahr Prison on March 16, 2016 with the abolishment of article 186.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), by abolishment of article 186 (enacted in 1996) of Islamic panel code in relation to the definition of “Moharebeh” (waging war against god) which has been changed in the new Islamic Panel code enacted in 2013; Mr. Ghanbari’s activism is not considered as “Moharebeh” in the new Islamic penal code article 279 because his activism was not armed, and by application of section B of article 10 of the new Islamic penal code he was retried, and he has been released on March 16, 2016 from Rajai Shahr Prison where he was serving his sentence. 3 More Political Prisoners Sent to Nowruz Furlough from Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – 3 political prisoner of Evin prison, Mahmood Beheshti, Maisam Mohammadi and Amir Nozar Noripour were sent to furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), by the agreement of judicial and prison authorities with the Nowruz furlough of the number of political prisoners in Evin Prison, 3 other prisoners were released from the prison. It is said that there is the possibility of an increase in the number of the prisoners who would go on Nowruz furlough. 5 Political Prisoners Sent to Nowruz Furlough from Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – At least 5 political prisoners of Evin Prison named Ali Hashemi, Hadi Haidari, Keyvan Mehregan, Mostafa Tajzadeh and Mostafa Azizi  were released for Nowruz furlough. There is the possibility of more prisoners being sent to furlough.

Amnesty International Concerned about Hussein Rafie’s Situation

HRANA News Agency – Amnesty International in a statement on the situation of Mr. Hussein Rafie, a retired university professor, 71-year-old and conscience prisoner, has expressed concern over Tehran’s Evin prison and demanded immediate action in this case.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Amnesty International said in a statement that the six years in prison sentence of Mr. Hussein Rafie, a conscience prisoners and retired university professor which was due to his peaceful political activities, has been confirmed in appeals court. Mortaza Noor Mohammadi Released on the Bail after the Trial

HRANA News Agency – Mortaza Noor Mohammadi, Turk (Azeri) civil activist, who had attended the Revolutionary Court in Shabestar due to the complaints of Disciplinary and Places Office of this city, on Monday March 14th, and was tried, has been released temporarily on the bail of 20 million tomans.

Motaleb Ahmadian Returned to Sanandaj Prison

HRANA News Agency – Motaleb Ahmadian, political prisoner who had been transferred to an unknown location from Sanandaj prison, was returned from Saghez prison, after completion of the investigations, on Saturday.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Motaleb Ahmadian had been unexpectedly transferred to an unknown location from Sanandaj prison, last week, and being unaware of his fate, had concerned his family.
