Protests Continue for the 4th Day in Iran

HRANA News Agency – The mass-protests continued on the fourth day in various cities of Iran. Protesters, who had protested in the early days due to financial problems and bad economic conditions, criticized the country’s leaders including the Iranian leader and the ruling system in addition to economic system and strongly chanted slogans against it. On December 31, 2017, protesters showed a significant street presence in at least 24 cities in Iran. Reports indicate that hundreds of citizens were detained and at least two protesters have been killed in recent protests.

From ISIS’s Prisons to Iran’s Prisons; a Letter from Hamzeh Darvish

HRANA News Agency – Hamzeh Darvish, 24-year-old prisoner from Talesh, claims that in 2014, ISIS troops tricked him into Turkey and then he traveled to Syria. He had been in ISIS jail for some time, then escaped to Iran and introduced himself to the security forces, and even had the chance to be freed by guarantee and to have quail breeding business. He was arrested unexpectedly, sometime ago, and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment. Mr. Darvishpour has a very bad physical and mental condition so that he cannot do his daily and personal affairs.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Hamzeh Darvish is a young prisoner who suffers from serious mental and psychological problems. Mr. Darvish wrote a letter addressed to public opinion months ago and before his mental condition was so inappropriate, and asked for human rights organizations’ help. A Report on the Status of 9 Political Prisoners from Shush

HRANA News Agency – Families of two death row prisoners from Ahwaz in the case of “Safi Abad in Dezful incident” called on all human rights organizations to be their children’s voice in the international community. They say “our children are innocent and the accusations attributed to them are not correct.”
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Qasem Beyt Abdullah and Abdullah Abdullahi (Karmalachab) from Shush, along with seven other defendants were tried on charges of moharebeh and communicating with foreign groups as well as propaganda against the regime in August 2017. A Prisoners Chained to the Flagpole in the Yard of Ardebil Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ardebil prison officials beat a prisoner who had protested against not having sleeping place, and then chained him to the rods of the prison for hours in the cold weather. This inhumane practice in Ardebil Prison has been done before.

Majid Abedinzadeh Moghaddam Returned to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Majid Abedinzadeh Moghaddam, civil activist and a witness of the Kahrizak Detention Center, returned to Evin prison on October 3, 2017 to serve the remainder of his 3-year conviction. Mr. Abedinzadeh Moghaddam had been sent to the medical furlough.

The List of Sunni Prisoners in Urmia Prison

HRANA News Agency – A large number of prisoners accused of communicating with Salafist groups in addition to a large number of political and security prisoners are being kept in Urmia prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the political and security prisoners are being kept in Ward 12 of the Central Prison in Urmia for several consecutive years. However, transferring a large number of Sunni prisoners accused of communicating with Salafist groups including Ansar al-Islam and ISIL has increased the population of this ward of prison since several months ago.
