HRANA News Agency – Hassan Rastgari Majd, political prisoner in Urmia Prison was beaten by prison guards. A number of his teeth were broken. Mr. Rastgari is suffering of vision problems and also hand fracture.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the political prisoner in Urmia Prison was beaten by two of prison guards after he insisted on his request of being transferred to the political prisoners’ ward, based on the principal of separation of crimes.
Mr. Rastgari’s two teeth were broken and his body is bruised and swollen.
Beating Mr. Rastgari for the same reason had previously also happened, even a case has been opened for him on charge of disturbing the prison order.
This political prisoner, in addition to the physical damages that was mentioned above, suffers from fraction in the middle finger of one of his hands, and is also experiencing a progressive vision problems that addressing it requires the deployment of advanced medical care outside the prison, a right that has been deprived of.
It is worth noting that Hasan Rastgari Majd, son of Sultan, 43-year-old Iranian-Turkish citizen, was arrested in Urmia on October 27, 2014.
Mr. Rastgari was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on charges of “disturbing public order, acting against national security and collaborating with Kurdish opposition groups”, by the Revolutionary Court in the city of Urmia. This verdict was upheld by the Court of Appeal. This prisoner of conscience has always denied the accusations during judicial proceedings.
