Hunger strike at Uremia prison goes on

HRANA News Agency – The hunger strike of 29 political prisoners in central prison of Uremia has continued for its ninth day and one prisoner was transferred to Mahabad prison.

According to Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), prison authorities transferred Mansour Arvand, the prisoner who has sentenced to death and is on hunger strike along with 28 other political prisoners, to Mahabad without any previous note, on Saturday November 29. This day was the day that political prisoners of section number 12 could have visitors.

A prisoner of this prison told HRANA’s reporter, “Officers put Mansour Arvand in handcuffs and shackles and took a sack over his head and transferred him to Mahabad prison”.

This source also mentioned, “Political prisoners who went for visit, were completely naked and intensely searched by officers”.

He continued, “After the visit time, approximately 12 prion guards entered to recreation area of the ward, cut off the phones, closed the doors and prison guards set position near windows and walls, then announced that Mohammad Abdullahi has to be transferred to murderers’ ward. We protested at this, and did not allow this transfer to happen. Finally, the internal chief of prison came and negotiated. Around 9 p.m. guards left and currently situation is calm”.

Need to be mentioned 29 prisoners of ward number 12 in central prison of Uremia are on hunger strike in protest at mixing non-political and political prisoners in different sections and some other requests. Their names are:

Ali Afshari, Jafar Afshari, Vali Afshari, Habib Afshari, Mansour Arvand, Kayhan Darvishi, Shirkoo Hasanpoor, Mohammad Abdullahi, Khazar Rasoulizadeh, Saman Nasim, Amir Molladoost, Sirvan Naxhavi, Jafar Mirzaei, Ibrahim Rezapoor, Mohammad Abdulbakht, Abdullah Asghari, Abdulrahamn Solaiman, Seyed Sami Hossani, Abdullah Hamoodi, Ahmad Tamooyi, Osman Mostafapoor, Behrooz ALkhani, Mostafa Alrahman Yousef kakehmami, Seyed Jamal Mohammadi, Alireza Rasouli, Shooresh Afshari, Mostafa Davoodi.
